PoI Accuracy
Just stopped by after a long time away. Just wanted to see if things have changed with the Accuracy of some of the files.
In the past I left because people were focused on size of their files and points offered, rather then the accuracy of the files.
Looking through the files I see a lot of sub notes referring to increased accuracy.

Update POI's
After download and check the POI location. While some POI location are missing, I add to file and double check for correctly.
When the original POI file create by submitter, can I upload the POI file or I have to notifiy the submitter to fix?
Can anybody upgrade it or only the submitter can do?
Which answer.
Thank

Fastest route is not always the quickest
I found this interesting article that discusses the way GPS units calculate the fastest route. It's a rather interesting read:
http://www.gpsreview.net/when-is-the-fastest-route-not-the-f...
Has anyone noticed this happening? I don't get "updates" like this on my Garmin except if there is a traffic event en-route.

Cell Phones With Navigation Via Data Plans
For all the discussion recently of cell phone carriers looking at ways to reduce data usage, maybe they ought to consider making more phones with GPS built in AND having the maps loaded onto the device rather than constantlu updating via the data plan. Maybe streaming music and downloading maps isn't a big part of data usage, but it definitely would be a way to reduce data usage somewhat.

Contributors of the Week 2009-11-30
This week we are recognizing Glthomson and Perrdom.
Glthomson, You have been busy making files for the state of Kentucky. Great Job!!!
Perrdom, Sometimes I wonder when you sleep. You are one of the busiest bees I have here. I am still trying to catch up with all the busy work you tossed on my desk from last week. Thanks so much for all of your hard work, we really appreciate you.

More Proof Home should not be home
Here is another case where people just set the GPS to take them home, giving the thieves both a map to the house and the garage opener to get them in the front door.

Finally here (trip to Ecuador)
Well, after 21 months of booking, planning, buying, and anticipating, our trip to Ecuador and the Galapagos is finally here. Tomorrow at 10:00 AM we head for the airport and the adventure of a lifetime. We're taking the GPS with us to get the obligatory "Where Am I?" pic at 0 degrees latitude.

Download E85 Station POIs
Here's a site I just discovered that has POIs for TomTom and Garmin GPSs that allows you to choose from a national database that will include all E85 stations in the country, or simply choose which states you would like to have available. It is updated quarterly according to the site.

GPX vs CSV
Is there an advantage to using a CSV file versus a GPX file? Are they more difficult to update? Thanks!
New map viewer for USGS topographic maps and GPX/KML/TPO files. Free, no ads.
Hello All,
Since this is my first post here I’ll try to make it worth your while. My name is Joseph Elfelt and I’m posting to let you know about an enhanced Google map viewer I have written that (1) can open and display data from GPX files and (2) includes the 7.5ʺ USGS/USFS topographic maps.
