Hello everyone.

I would like to thanks Miss POI and every members that made this site possible. My good old faithful nuvi 360 is still going strong and I know it will serve me for many years to come.

military bases in the U.S.

As I travel across the U.S. I find that many military bases have rv spaces for active and retired military. Has anyone ever compiled a list of the military bases in the U.S.

What is the latest member count?

I have not read the postings as closely as in the past and hope this has not been covered recently. I thought it would be interesting to learn how many members are in the factory, and if any membership count milestones are close at hand?

Is anyone else getting the same message I'm getting below?

Tour Guides

While towing an rv it is nice to know where all the truck stops are located. I have all the truck stop POIs on the gps.
I set all the truck stop pois on a Tour Guide audio alert for 5 miles out.
This works very well since the truck stops are usually off (but adjacent to)the interstates and normal alerts do not work.

NYPD File Update

Just updated the NYPD POI with corrected coordinates for the 73Pct. located in Brooklyn, NY.

Newbie help

I have downloaded a POI file (Dunkin Donuts)
Using GPSBABEL I have converted it to a Delorme draw file for Street Atlas 2009
Opening the file works but nothing shows.

Does anybody on this forum have a suggestion on how to make this useful information visible on the Delorme maps in Street Atlas?

Thanks in advance.

Just a sad story....

An infamous and inhospitable (unless you're a reptile) place living up to its name. Just goes to show that even with some supplies, a GPSr, and a cellphone that this may not be enough to save your life.

This was sent to me from a friend in Milwaukee so I thought I would pass it on to any of the group that lives in Milwaukee or the surrounding area.

Anytime you have a 50-50 chance of getting something right, there's a 90% probability you'll get it wrong.

I need help

I am trying to make gmail my automatic email account that it will send a message from. If I go to lets say craigslist to buy a gps and I click on the email name I want gmail to send an email from my account. I am using windows vista and safari. Please help me asap.

Thanks to all

Other uses?

Besides the obvious use for directions what other good uses have you found for your GPSr?

While driving I like being able to see the est. time of arrival.

Seeing how much farther to the destination.

Being told ahead of time which way to turn.

Being able to use POIs.

Other uses?

New here...Got my first GPS

I just picked up a Garmin 255W today. I'm new to the whole GPS thing. But so far I'm pretty impressed with this unit and how much tweaking can be done to customize it. I did my map update and have installed some new poi's. Looks like fun!!

Red light cameras planned for Roanoke, VA

In yesterdays local paper they outlined a plan to add 10 red light cameras to the downtown Roanoke, VA area. They used the example of Norfolk, VA where the red light cameras decreased the number of accidents at certain intersections. It's supposed to go through later this year.

Have you gotten a ticket after you have the Red Light/Speed Camera POI setup?

Just wondering if anyone....now that you've installed the Traffic and Speed camera POI's...has gotten a ticket because you missed hearing the warning sound or spotting the screen icon on your particular GPS?
