Fines.- Enforcement or Revenue.

Running red lights and exceeding the speed limits are traffic offences in most jurisdictions. The penalty is generally a fine, and sometimes "penalty points". There are of course many other traffic laws we can break and be punished for. The punishment is also usually a minimum of a fine.

Garmin or TomTom

Hi!

I've been gone a while. It's time to replace my aged Nuvi 360. I've always used Garmin but this is 2009.

In the United States, which is the best choice for the money now; Garmin or TomTom?

I've heard TomTom's maps have significantly improved and I like the option of being to update my maps/download approved maps which TomTom now offers.

I don't know where I'm going or remember where I've been...without Garmin.

Dutch government wants to track all motorists with GPS.

I wonder how long until this happens in the U.S. ?

The Dutch government said Friday it wants to introduce a "green" road tax by the kilometre from 2012 aimed at cutting carbon dioxide emissions by 10 percent and halving congestion.

Where are you travels taking you for Thanksgiving?

Me: I'm heading to the northeast, first to Boston to visit some friends, and then to NJ and CT to see my sisters. One of them was just diagnosed with cancer. It is thought to be the least aggressive type, and said not to have metastasized yet. So, I'm more thankful than ever.

A lot of driving, but... have GPS, will travel.

The Galileo satellite-navigation system is coming.

After all the wrangling, the delays and the furore over cost, Europe's version of GPS is finally starting to take shape.

US Thanksgiving and the Red Light/Speed Camera Files

An admittedly selfish request for Miss POI:

Thanksgiving will be celebrated in the United States two weeks from tomorrow (Thursday, November 26). Is there any possibility that the red light/speed camera files for that week could be released a day earlier, on Tuesday, November 24? The Krull family (us) will be starting our holiday road trip on Wednesday, November 25, and we (and perhaps others here) will not be able to download the "latest and greatest" if it is issued that day.

Standalong GPS or In car

Hello All,
I am a new member in this forum. I have been using GPSs for a few years now. I have seen the progression of GPSs from expensive, basic navigation devices to having more and more features at fraction of the cost.

Thank you Veterans!

On behalf of my entire family, a most heartfelt thanks to those who served and serve our country and to every one of their family members and friends who shared in that amazing dedication!

GPS and London TAXI

So I was in London England several years ago and was aware that the London Taxi drivers hold onto something they call "The Knowledge". In order to get a taxi license they need a complete working knowledge of all the roads in and around greater London. So here is my question. Does anybody know if that is still true or have GPS's replaced this long standing tradition?
