Greetings. My wife bought me our Garmin Nuvi 260W in May of 2008. We used it on a trip up to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. This thing is awesome. It was a seven hour car ride and it was accurate to within 10 minutes of predicting our arrival.

This week we are recognizing Skunkape and Dhayner.

Skunkape, This week you have been busy updating old files, making new ones and participating in the forums. Great job.

Dhayne, You have been very active for the last few weeks making icons and files. It is great to have you filling in some of the Washington State files that need to be made.

where do new poi come from? are they submitted from people using their gps and saving locations?

I think I did the right thing... but didn't find a FAQ on it....

Starbucks.... Didn't trip on the location near our house. So I pulled into the parking lot adjacent to building also by main street, and logged the co-ordinates... and the address....

Aside from the obvious of being able to accurately navigate and assusming (BIG assumption) accurate maps, and the standard add-ons like bluetooth, FM transmitter, pictures, movies and music files; what features do you think would make the "Perfect" GPS?

Just got back from San Francisco Area, and wanted to post a big THANK YOU to all who have guided me in the right direction regarding POI's and other commenets...

We used the GPS daily, and I had NO IDEA that POI's could be as powerful and informative as they turned out to be!!

couple years ago purchased an IQUE M5 - wasn't thrilled with all the capabilities and quirks.
Wifey recently received a Nuvi 205 and we've been having a ton-o-fun w/that thing.

Except last night - when we couldnt' find two Dairy Queens soo dissapointed...

Here’s the problem, I created a custom POI file, and loaded it into my Garmin (StreetPilot 7200) GPS. My hard drive crashed, and I lost the file. Is there any way to get this file out of the GPS and into my computer? The only other way that I thought of, is to go through the Extras and retype the whole file line by line.

The movie "Knowing" with Nicolas Cage was released last week on DVD. The GPS plays a significant role in the movie plot. What other movies have you seen where the GPS plays a somewhat important role?

I need help viewing my icons.

Just got a new NUVI 765T, and one thing I noticied right away (I hope this hasn't been covered a million times) is that when on a route, and an up coming turn is near, that it shows that it zooms in, but the turn isn't enlarged that much, and that when I pass an alert from a custom POI, it allways goes off three (3) times, even though I have it set for one.

While listening to local talk radio and their discussion of area red light camera issues (and reduced yellow light times), I decided to research POI files. I found POI Factory and seem to recall having found the site before but lost track of it. Anyway, I've signed up and have started checking out the goodies.

This week we are recognizing Plornch and Perrdom.

Plornch, You came to me and let me know that there were some problems with the Marshall's file. You took the time to make all the corrections and additions that were needed to update the file. You also took over the project since it had been abandoned. I really appreciate your assistance in this.

So, the police chief of Washington DC is asked about a new iPhone app that alerts users when they're approaching one of the several hundred red light/speed cameras in the district (just like POI Factory red light camera alerts). She calls their use a "cowardly tactic."
