I have recently purchased the GeePeeX Editor program, and I love it. The program seems to be working great. My only complaint is that creating large poi files is taking quite a bit of time. I'm wondering if it would be faster to learn a bit about Excel,and save as csv files from Excel to open in GeePeeX, rather than cut and paste one poi at a time into GeePeex.

proximity alerts
Can anyone tell me an easy way to create proximity alerts in a poi file? I have a Garmin Nuvi 750. I created a poi file but I don't know how to specify for it to alert and how far away you have to be from the poi and all. THANKS!

How to upload BMP file to POI factory
Hello,
I just uploaded POI for Central Florida Educators Federal Credit Union (CFEFCU) branches and would like to upload BMP which I have created with it. However, the website won't allow file extension other than CSV and PGX. Can you advise how can I share the BMP file?

Southern United States Brewpubs and Brewerys
Anyone interested in creating a POI of Brewerys in the South. I know it's not the as popular as other states, but perhaps we can start something in the gulf states area that would be fun to do. Who knows it may stir up some interest in the craft and start some business!

Can you trust these POI coordinates?
I am new to GPS, only 1 week and new to all of this. I downloaded Home Depot and Lowes POI's, so I decided to venture out , Lowes first, then the Home Depot. To my dissapointment, both coordinates were about 1/2 mile off!! I got the exact coordinates from the "where am I screen" Garmin 255 W and compared the coordinates with the downloaded poi coordinates and they were very different!

corrections/additions
I noticed while in Dallas this weekend, that some of the POI lists had errors and omissions. For example: in the Office Depot list, one of them was nowhere near the listed location - and many existing actual stores were not listed in the table at all.

Custom POI's not scrolling properly - Nuvi 750
I have created a several custom POI files.
A typical entry looks like this:
-76.291901,36.868575,Doumar's,"1919 Monticello Ave.
Norfolk, VA 23517
757-627-4163
www.doumars.com"
This allows me to have a properly formatted multi-line display of the information when I search for it.

Petsmart POI
I just put together a POI file for petsmart in Illinois and will be uploading it to the site. Please advise if I missed anything or the format it incorrect. From reading the forums I should have all the necessary fields.

Garmin c340 POIloader not responding?
new c340 that works fine, Webupdater works and loader runs but then I get the "not responding" message. I saved the targeted POI files on my desktop?

POI from CSV, Description will not display
I am trying to create a POI with POI loader and the nuvi 255w.
I tried importing a CSV file with 2 points (using a GPX file returned the same result):

I created a POI file and submitted it but it isn't showing up. Does it take a certain amount of time before it is published?

Converting to Sony's XML Format (Answer, not question)
I've got a Sony NV-U73T on the way and I just found out that it doesn't seem to have a way to load POIs. However, since I'm a programmer (or used to be), I figured out what might be a hack to make it work.

Creating POIs
I have been browsing this site for a few days now. I am interested in learning to create my own POIs for my Garmin 760. Most of the threads and FAQs mention Excel, which I don't have. I do have Google Earth, so I can go that route, but I can't seem to get the phone #'s to show up. I would be very thankfull if someone had the time to help me with this.

Hello all,
I have created a list of meetings that meet on different days of the week. My nuvi 660 sorts them by long/lat. I would like to sort them by day and then each day by time (earlyist to latest).
If someone could point me in the right direction I would be very grateful.

How to execute POI Loader?
I have installed POI Loader and am having difficulty running the program.
After installing POI Loader from Garmin the program executes. Once the program is exited I am unable to find any reference to the program either in the C:\Program Files folder or in Start>All Programs menu.

i have an excel spreadsheat with the addresses and latitude & longitude coordinates of 180 locations. HOW can I make it into a .csv or .gpx file for my Garmin to read?

Can "Favorites" be converted to POIs?
Just got my Garmin nuvi 750, and I am already tinkering with it. I've come up with a project to create a POI file of all the fire hydrants in my VFD area of responsibility. This is a rural area, we sometimes have to go some distance to find a hydrant, and it is hard to remember and find them all, especially at night. We have paper lists and maps, but I would like my GPS to display them.
Can you get coordinates and addresses using google earth
I was working on a POI file using google earth, I exported the locations as a Kml file then used POIEDIT to convert it to a garmin cvs file.
This worked fine in a simulated test, however my file did not bring over addresses.
Anyone have a tip to get the address to come over with the coordinates using the method described above?
