Garmin talk

I normally figure things like this out on my own, but this has me stumped. About a week ago, the vehicle icon on seen on the map screen on my 3597 has turned bright yellow and the features on it that were dark like the windshield are now white. All the other colors on the map are correct. I noticed this the 1st time it powered on after I crossed into Canada.

I've been away from these discussions for awhile and so have a couple questions that can only be answered here. First, looking at new Garmins I'm wondering about the Garmin Drive. Price seems right. How is it in operation? Will it fit the Bean Bag I use on my present 3790?

Quick question here, I have existing Trapster,Cyclops and other speed camera and red light camera POIs on my Nuvi from a few years ago..
With downloading the latest offerings on here, do I "need" to remove the old ones first?.. will leaving them on the unit cause multiple alerts?...or is it simply a redundancy issue?

I am thinking about transitioning to traveling around the US up to 80% of the year. I plan on getting a fifth wheel trailer and a new truck to pull it. I want to be comfortable but also would like to be able to camp in most National Parks and other public places.

I have a Drive Smart 60 that when I go to the All Saved Places, nothing shows my Saved Places. What is wrong? It brings up a map.

Just looking for a census of how many people are using Basecamp to make their POI files? With POI Editor giving trouble right now, I decided to give it a try and I found it quite easy and you can even use Google Earth in the process. Only two programs are needed; Basecamp and POI Uploader. I encourage you to give to give it a try.

I just loaded the last map update.

The internal memory was close to full.

I was taking an airplane/car trip to the east coast.
The bean bag stand and magnetic cradle were left behind for weight and space purposes.

I checked the operation of the nuvi by plugging into the car.
Things lit up and I was good to go................

Just saw that there is a new version of the Garmin Smartphone Link. Nothing majorly exciting: Further improved the stability of the app.

I have a peculiar situation relative to mass storage.
My desktop will recognize my 3597, however the laptop will not using the same cable. Also using the same cable, both computers will go to mass storage for my Montana 610.
I have tried using several other cables, but it just doesn't help.
When connected to the laptop the 3597 does turn on, but does not go to mass storage.

I've downloaded the "Canadian Rockies Peak Finder" POI and although it is quite dated in age, the description states that there are over 1500 points listed. Now when I download it I only get 60, and Ive deleted the file and then reinstalled it (POI Loader ) numerous times and it still remains at that 60 points mark..am I to assume that it is just incorrect in the description?..

I was reading about the large JVC file on the thread:

"What is the large Junction View file for Garmin On The Road devices and do I need or want it?"

And it says on there that :

Added an indication that the large JCV file may not work with the nuvi 2797"

Hey all,
Does anyone know the coverage of Garmin's traffic service in Canada?.. forgive me I'm as still new to this whole traffic service thing but my unit has the built in receiver as apposed to it being on the power cable (if that makes a difference)
Planning a trip East into Manitoba and Ontario and would love this feature to work.

As posted today I tried to update my GE. First I did via GE update itself on two different laptops.

Went through all the motions and then said "Installation failed".

Next I downloaded GE from Garmin to laptop # 1 and installed it. No problem it installed GE v.5.6.1.0

Did a download from Garmin to my other # 2 laptop and this time it installed GE v.5.6.0.0

Hi I am not very good with computers and hope someone could help.i have downloaded some poi files to my lap top and am now trying to download them to my camper 770 sat nav ,via POI loader. The problem is tha when I put the name of the files in the message there are no data files in that folder.please specify a folder that contains at least one file with a.csv or GPs extension. Comes up.

any suggestions? I have been searching for hrs for soln... my streetpilot c 550 works perfect, I dont want to replace it,,, however the ball socket is worn out, the plastic tabs have broken off,,,, any suggestions? I have tried to figure out a bracket but am coming up short....
