Noticed the 2018.3 Maps has Double Entries

Is it just me, or has anyone else noticed that all searches have two and sometimes three entries for the same Points of Interest? I have numerous gps's and everyone of them show the same thing. Also, I noticed that I now have a map that is called CN North America NT 2018.30 Parkopedia? I know that it is pulling information from Foursquare and what is on the map itself but is Garmin moving away from the POI and moving to let specific companies handle POI's like Foursquare? Also found out that stores like Walmart are put into as many as three different categories. (Example is Walmart which one is put in as "Shopping" and another is put in as "Grocery" and another will be "General Merchandise".

I think that

I think that if I were a retailer or service business, I would want to have the most exposure possible.

In the case of Walmart, a Walmart can have Groceries, Tires, Pharmacy, General Retail and in some locations Gas and Diesel. There are other categories that a Garmin could find for a Walmart as well such as Hunting/Camping/Fishing.

It's just another convenience for the retailer and the user. Of course, all that extra data is also why the maps are getting bigger and bigger and harder to maintain.

.

I rather like that they are divided into categories. I think that makes searching easier.

The Parkopedia data is used to help you find nearby parking with your DriveLuxe 51.

Hate to pay for parking

Whenever I need to go downtown, its less expensive to take public transit though it takes at least twice as long. Us old farts, we get discount tickets on public transit. Considering fuel and parking cost makes it cheaper, though not as convenient.

One hour train ride. Sometime I take a nap, quite relaxing and not have to deal with the tress of driving and finding parking in the city. Discount tickets too.

One of the few "perks" for us old farts. smile
