Dezl 560 has black screen

Maybe it's time to let this one go. I've had my Dezl 560 LMT since 2011. That seems to be a long time in the world of GPS.
I had become so comfortable with it that I formed the habit of leaving it in the car all the time, and let it power up and down according to whether it was getting power from the external power cord or not.
Lately, it's been in my work car which only gets driven about every other week. And apparently, that's the problem.
I can't get the unit to power up. Or maybe it's powering up but the screen has gone bad. When power is applied, it takes maybe 30 seconds or so, but sometimes up to a couple of minutes, and I hear a "beep" like it's powering up, but nothing on the screen. I've tried it repeatedly.
I've tried holding the power button in for a couple of minutes, hoping to get a reset.
I've put it on an indoor charger for several DAYS and yet there's no change.
Anybody know of a fix for this one?

The Dezl 560 was an expensive unit when new as is it's newer counterpart. It might be worth repairing. you could try Garmin or Sharcnet to get a quote.
One last thing you could try is to connect the unit to a PC via the USB cable. If the USB connect screen appears, the problem is likely elsewhere. If you can read the units directories on the PC, perhaps with the help of another member who knows the file structure, you could check for a corrupted file.
If you are reasonable sure the screen is bad, you could try replacing it yourself. There are several YouTube video tutorials available including this one:

Of course you can always step up to the current Dezl 580 for around $300. You can probably do better if you wait until after Christmas.
It's a shame to just give up on such an expensive unit thats only 6 years old.
New battery?
I would be tempted to try a new battery. If the battery is completely shot, it may not charge up enough even when plugged in to power it up.
