Garmin talk

If I get an Auxiliary Input for my 660 and connect them via a 3.5mm to 3.5mm cable, i understand that i will be able to listen to my MP3's on my car speakers thru the 660.

my question is, will i also be able to use bluetooth this way?

i guess what i am trying to ask is if the AUX jack works for bluetooth too.

When removing unwanted files from NUVI 760 (eg vehicles or lang.) any special care that must be taken or can one just copy the unwanted file to PC and then delete from NUVI?

I own a Nuvi 770, is it possible to install Topo Map on this Nuvi?

Also, anticipating that it is possible, I purchased a 4GB HC SD card for my Nuvi, when I put it in the Nuvi, the Nuvi went black and never turn on again. I had to return the Nuvi back for an exchange. Is it because the Nuvi does not accept HC SD cards.

Just want to say hello to the fellow forum members, I use a Garmin Etrex Vista HCx and want to know which program could be used to store, catalog, manipulate, etc POI's before using Garmin's POI uploader. Looking for something basically that works. I have been lurking for a week now and have learned a lot. thanks

I am not sure where else to put this post. The people on this site seem to know what they are talking about. I am considering getting a fitness watch and was wondering if any of the Garmin users here have purchased a Garmin forerunner 50 (with the foot pod) or 205. They are about the same price and was wondering about the pros and cons with either one.

I find that 80% of the time, when I power up my 250w, I have to zoom it in or out in order to get street names to appear. In other words, all I see at first are a bunch of streets without names. I have tried to let the street names appear by themselves, but I find I have to zoom in and then zoom back out.

When I navigate to home, most times the car parks facing south. Now when I start a new trip it starts south but sometimes I want to start north.

How can I turn the car around (to face north) before I start my new trip?

I am using this work around at present (before I actually start). Start off and go a short distance, stop, then go back home so the car will face north.

Hi - in light of another discussion about which nuvi has best bang for the buck, and my playing around to free up some space, I noted that on my n370 there is a non-tts voice accompanying the tts voices. Which made me curious if one could take a non-tts nuvi and simply copy onto it a tts voice, or whether there is some difference in firmware or otherwise that would keep this from working.

I have downloaded and ran Garmin Updater twice. It gets to 47% and I get an error. Then it closes.
What is wrong??

nuvi 660 model:
My brother helped me though this process and then I had my computer re-imaged.
I still have the files, but they are all in 1 folder.
Does anyone have the patience to give me a step by step "How to organize" these files for my nuvi?
Also, I have read about updating, but I do not see an "About" on any of my menus!

I purchased my three GPS Units (Nuvi 360 and 660)(Street Pilot 550c) in early 2007 and have never updated the maps. I would appreciate any insights regarding:

- the format (CD, SD card, etc.) of the new maps when purchasing the "Map Update 2008 City Navigator® North America NT" online from Garmin

- do I need to make only one purchase for all three units

Does anyone have any inside information on the Nuvi 880? I was interested in how well the speech recognition feature works.

Is there a place on the web that i can put in the Loungatude and latatude (sorry for the spelling) and see the location?

Like i want to see the red light locations so i know where they are.

I'm hoping to make my own vehicle file for my gps. I downloaded the ones that garmin has on their site, however i do not know where to find a program that will work with their supported .srf files.

Can anyone help?

I have a nuvi 260 and I believe I have 2.40 software. When I run web updater it says I have current software. I understand that I am 2 updates behind. How do I catch up? Thanks for all the great help!

Anyone know how Garmin sorts cities?
When I search near a different city, a list of cities, with that name, appear for the various states.
However there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason on how it lists the cities.
Some cities are listed alphabetical by state and some are not.

i.e If I type in Louisville, the first state on the list is MD.
The fifth is KY.

I have a nuvi 200 and have loaded several poi files with poiloader and with no problem.

On this one, I made sure that I did the express upload, so no alert information should show up when I go to the poi file, but it is. I even did it twice. It shows:

The name of the company
The words "Alert Information" on the next line
The word "Distance:" and a number on the next line

could someone tell me if the have Washington state, national and state parks poi

I am having trouble downloading custom vehicle icons to my Nuvi 200w. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I'm a newb so don't be too hard on me. LOL

Does anyone know if the Garmin 276c and 376c is capable of instaling custom POI's? I tried installing POI Loader but the install program can't find my GPS even tho its hooked up to the computer.
