POI Voice alerts for Garmin Nuvi 660

I have carried out the speed camera downloads and converted the voice alerts to mp3 as your recommendation, but I only get the standard alert sound, not the voice alert. Where have I gone wrong, or can't I play these on the Nuvi 660

Here are some of the common pitfalls.

Double check to be 100% sure that the file is an MP3.

Rename your sound file EXACTLY the same name as your POI file except for the file extension (the three letters after the dot).

For example, if your POI file was "Tim_Hortons.csv", you would rename the icon for that POI as "Tim_Hortons.mp3".

DOUBLE AND TRIPLE check for double file extensions.

NOTE: The default setting on many computers is to "hide file extensions for known file types". If this is the case on your computer, make sure that you change the setting in your file browser so that you can see the extensions to ensure that you don't add double file extensions. (ie Tim_Hortons.mp3.mp3 which won't work.)

Be sure you don't have any extra spaces or underlines in one file name that aren't in the other.

You would then place both files (the MP3 and the CSV) in the same folder on your computer. (Not on your GPS unit.)

Then run POI Loader and the sound will load with the file.

Thanks for this, I have gone

Thanks for this, I have gone through everything as you suggest but I still can't get the voice alert to work. I must be a complete idiot!or there is a problem with the Nuvi?
Any suggestions would be welcome

How about trying a different MP3 file? Maybe there's problem with the one you are trying.

Or maybe you could post a screenshot of the files on your computer and maybe someone will be able to see a problem.

brianr0_0. I tried all 3 of

I tried all 3 of the listed sounds for speed cameras on the site with Media player and they all worked .By any chance did you download the file using the media player that resulted in a wma file?If not it should work ok.It gets back to not having the mp3 file in the right folder or not being named the same thing. When you download from the site it shows as speed-cameras once you unzip the folder.By keeping the same folder name on your computer it makes it easier for later updates. You just right click the new folder you downloaded and click copy then paste it in the speed-cameras folder and it will overwrite the old file.Like MM said if you could show how you have the files lay out on your computer someone will be able to walk you through this.I would re-check the file names once more.

Many thanks guys, I've

Many thanks guys, I've finally got the voice alerts working as they should be. I still don't know what was wrong, but I removed the custom POI's and voice alerts, re-checked the files and reformated the MP3 files re-installed on to the Garmin and they worked.
It must have been operator error, namely ME.

Glad it worked out.Sometimes

Glad it worked out.Sometimes it does get a little frustrating but once it comes together it is a good feeling.
