MapSource, editing routes

Ok, in google maps, you are able to get directions and let it figure out what it thinks is the best route. Afterwards, you can drag the route points to wherever you want to go. So, for instance, it tell you to go on some rural route, but you want to go on the interstate, no matter the time difference. So you grab a point over to the interstate and it recalculates the route. Can you do that in Map Source and then download it to the 7xx series?

Yes

With rhe route tool you can drag to change the suggested route and transfer route to a unit that supports routes.

To drag a route to a new location you use the selection tool not the route tool. The selection tool is the one that looks like an arrow.

Anytime you have a 50-50 chance of getting something right, there's a 90% probability you'll get it wrong.

How do you create routes on your computer and download to Nuvi 7

The above discussion leads me to believe that I can create a route on my home computer and download it to the nuvi, but I haven't been able to figure out how to do that. Any help would be appreciated.
thanks

Since I don't have 7xx, I

Since I don't have 7xx, I haven't really paid close attention on how to do it, but there are posts that have help in them about this.

Yes, you can. In order to do so, you must have the MapSource software installed on your computer.

Since your GPS unit doesn't come with MapSource in the box, if you want this functionality, you must call Garmin and request the software disk. Tell them that you want to use it to plan routes and send them to the nuvi and that you want to use it to manage your Favorites.

Do you have MapSource?

Thanks

I downloaded mapsource when I first got my nuvi760 but when I ran it, it was looking for a map which I didn't have. I didn't realize (as motorcycle mama stated) that I have to get it from Garmin. I guess I'll try asking Garmin via email. Thanks again.
