Garmin talk

Hi everyone,

On the 1350T, I do not have the route avoidance to avoid traffic, but many times when I'm driving in traffic it say "Severe traffic; recalculating" eventhough the unit itself does not do any recalculating.

To all 1350T owners, do you experience this also?

Does anyone know of a Garmin GPS that has a traffic monitor that is as good as the Iphone3GS's built in traffic monitor? The Microsoft traffic shows major highways and expressways but has virtually no street level info and it is obviously not used in routing at street level.

I am getting a Garmin Nuvi 255W this morning at work. I have experience with Garmin streetPilot 2730, Nuvi 500, and the Nuvifone G60, but I haven't used a Nuvi 255W much in the past. I am just trying to brainstorm on what I can do to get the most out of it. So far I have come up with the following:

-check to see how current maps are

-add custom POIs

-add custom vehicles

Got ourselves a 265WT at Christmas and really enjoy it. Would like to get a GPS for daughter's college graduation and really like Garmin. One feature the 265 lacks that I'd like to include for her is routes. What suggestions does the forum have for a Garmin model in the price range of the 265 (somewhat more $ I would imagine) that has routing capability?

I have an "old" Nuvi 350, and I have used the rest area POI files. What I'd like to know is if there's a way to tell what's in a certain rest area (i.e. does it contain a Dairy Queen?). All I can tell at this point is the actual existence of the rest area.

Is anyone else having problems with the myGarmin pages?

Whenever i navigate to garmin.com and choose the myGarmin link, the page looks weird and, the icons are all x'd out and it says Sorry, page cannot be displayed.

I tried reinstalling Garmin Connect, and I get the same page when I click on the Install for Internet Explorer button.

I had a 760 until one night some idiot broke my trucks window and ripped it out of the dash. The 760 was connected to my Alpine stereo's rear propriety ai-net connection with a AI-net to 3.5mm cable ($12.00 on ebay).

This cable was ran behind the dash and would let me play MP3's from the nuvi through the stereo. Worked great.

Has anyone got this error ERR_DATA_ABORT within their Nuvi inside the GarminError.xml file?

It is occuring in my Nuvi 1350T using the latest software version 3.90. The unit seems to functioning fine. I saw this error ERR_DATA_ABORT 3 times already within that GarminError.xml file.

Looking at this discussion, http://www.poi-factory.com/node/27390, it looks like the 2010.40 maps were released on or around 01/21/2010.

I need your advice. My Nuvi 750 doesn't get power when connected to the cigarette lighter anymore. The fuse in the AC adapter seems intact. I wonder if the adapter/mount went bad, or if the the issue could be with the unit itself.

Before I spend any money on a new adapter/mount, has any one had a similar issue and could share how they handled it? Thank you,

While playing around with my SP 2720 I discovered a few potentially useful functions that can be initiated during startup. I'm not aware that anything like this has been previously posted here or elsewhere.

1) Powering up while holding the "Find" key:

Can you load Red Light Cameras & Rest Stops in the same folder with 2 different Wav files one for each. I guess I mean one for rest areas & one for Red light Cameras so when I get to a rest area that wav file will play & when I get to a red light camara that wav file will play

I've been working for several days trying to get my POI's loaded and in a usable state on my Garmin 265w. By way of this website, I finally feel like I'm making some great progress. But I'm still in need of assistance.

HUDGE PROBLEM -I deleted all file on my garmin 650, I have stored all file on pc - how to force start gps to load file from sd card ?

I'm looking for dead Nuvi 260 or even better need someone to tell me what the SMD component next to the USB connector on the right side is? Most likely it's a capacitor (size: 0816?) and not resistor (but I might be wrong).

I bought my 1490T at Costco in late January of this year,
and for the last few weeks , I/ve been getting notice about my Navteq traffic subscription is about to expire..

I'm at a loss..I have a765t..got the POI loader..I've downloaded files into a separate file on my desktop..downloaded them onto my gps (said successful)found them where they should be..good..then I downloaded some more..however..the ones I previously downloaded are not in there,just the new ones..I've done this several times, with the same results..am I doing something wrong?
