POIs for Mexico

I doubt you're going to find

I doubt you're going to find any. This forum seems to be centered on the US and Canada. This is not a surprise since the majority of the GPS users here have units that contain the US and Canada. Plus, there seems to be little information out there on the Internet regarding things that would be of interest to users, like Rest Areas, Red Light and Speed Cameras, and so on.

POI files for Mexico

When I updated the Hampton Inn POI file recently, I was able to add the Mexico locations. Google Maps Street View now covers most of the major cities and highways in Mexico, so I was able to pinpoint most locations fairly accurately. (I wouldn't recommend simply entering the street address, unless you're familiar with the street address formats and naming conventions.)

Most of the POI files I maintain only have US & Canada locations. For other files, however, I'm trying to contribute Mexico locations, where practical.

The 2011.10 map does have POI's as well, although I can't vouch for accuracy.

I have built a POI database

I have built a POI database for campsites in Mexico (over 450 entries with descriptions) However, I am waiting for permission from a major source (80%) to make this available. I should get that (if I do) in September). At that time it will be available on my website at www.mexicorvforums.com/GPS.html.

Oh, I'm aware of what the maps cover, I was just saying I can't vouch for the accuracy of POI's that are on the Mexican maps, not having tested them.
