In danger of losing your windmill?
Maybe you can share with us the last place your GPS took you and if you encountered any problems, or if you use it to seek out special places to go (like Thai Food, ice cream shoppes, etc.) Anything to keep your windmill alive.
This thread will be closed on the last day of the month and a new one will be opened.

Furtherest up I have ever been in this thread
Last trip was to Winston Salem for a conference. A week ago, while making a short trip around town I really wished I had my GPS because there was a parade blocking my desired path and I didn't know the surrounding country. Spent about 40 minutes trying to go one mile. Finally got out something I should have gotten out first - a paper map.

Quick trip on the motorcycle from Sacramento to Carson City, NV. The GPS worked fine, but the bee that thought my chin was a landing pad was not pleasant.

Close to Home
Just short trips around the homebase over the past week - groceries, goodwill, papa john's, etc. No significant traffic or issues with the google nav app. Nice quiet week!
Sears
I found the best deal for an air compressor to blow out my sprinkler system for the winter. I had to rely on "Karen" to lead me to where the store was located.

I lost my signal 2X
Went to Long Beach, LI last Monday afternoon using my iPhone 4S with the TomTom App for guidance. Funny thing happened on the way - the system lost satellite coverage just as I got close to my destination. I had the moon roof open at the time too. Why, I even had to stop and ask for directions!
Now the strangest thing is that my Sirius/XM radio developed glitches where the music dropped out for several seconds at a time. It happened in exactly the same vicinity as the GPS signal drop out.
Very strange to say the least.

Well...
My girlfriend is house hunting and out gps units have taken us over several states. We have used our gps's to find places to eat and parks to visit as well as tracking our hiking at the places we go. We have actually used our Garmin to map property lines. It's that useful.
Honestly POI Factory has been a godsend with all the POI's and traffic cameras !
Chicago
From FL to Chicago. Garmin will get a good workout.

No problems w/the Nuvi 1450 finding the parking areas in the gorge. However, it is the eTrex30 that is proving to be the one to have on the trails.

Ran my Nuvi765T along side with my iPhone & iOS6 Maps App... no problems with Maps whatsoever - every bit as good as the Nuvi performance.

Last big trip
Last big trip for me was from Calgary, AB to Lincoln City, OR. Absolutely no issues using my Nuvi 2555 and even better the Red Light Camera POIs made sure I didn't go through any of the hair-trigger red light cameras in Spokane!
Vermont
Just traveled from Vermont to PA, very easy with GPS. Got pulled over for speeding about an hour from home, managed to drive away with no ticket or warning

Colorado
My last big trip involving new territory (as opposed using the GPS in familiar areas out of pure habit)was in Colorado, which included a trip through Rocky Mountain National Park.
Trip to Hilton Head
1490LMT GPS got me there, but rebooted twice, blowing out my mileage stats on my EcoRoute HD.
According to it, I got 0.2 miles per gallon.
Out of State
We drove to Las Vegas last weekend for some fun and adventure! Loved it!

Customer's new store in Defiance OH.
I need to get a map update. There is a new highway bypass and it had me going through cornfields.
Leaf Peeping
Went for a drive up to NW Massachusetts, Mt. Greylock.
Very nice.

Long Weekend Trip (10/4 to 10/7/2012)
We drove to the Mall of America from Chicago area. It did a great job to get us there and back. There was also a lot of construction around the hotel, so it was helpful there.
We also used it to find food and attractions. We stopped at the last bank Jesse James tried to rob in Northfield, the Spam Museum (don't remember the city, but it's along I-90), and the Green Giant statue in Blue Earth, MN. I got those from the Roadside America website. We had a great trip and easy navigation.
A station in Long Beach
A station in Long Beach south of Los Angeles had California's priciest gas at $6.65 for a gallon of regular, according to GasBuddy.com.

Covered Bridge Ride
Escorted a HOG group through eastern Ohio on Sunday checking out some covered bridges. 2nd half of the day was cold rain all the way home to PA.

Ha! Ha! I always drive Atlanta late at night to avoid the nightmare. Nashville is the other spot that worries me.

Backroads
Still using my Nuvi 255W with the street maps. Went up north to see if the fall colors were starting to change. Drove on some dirt roads in the national forest and the map installed on my Nuvi actually showed the forest service roads we were driving on. Very convenient as it allowed us to travel on some roads going into some remote areas and still be able to know where we were in relation to the main roads. Kept us from potentially getting lost, I mean "disorientated". Pretty neat feature of the maps that I wasn't aware of.
OK.....so where the heck am I?

3490 HD traffic to the rescue
My Garmin HD traffic on my 3490 comes to the rescue once more.
I was driving through Nashville while headed to Chicago. I told my NUVI 3490 not to take I65 North but take I24 west. Before I turned onto I24 my NUVI warned me that there was a MAJOR accident with lane closures. My NUVI gave me a message to seek an alternate route cause the backup was 30 minutes. With the help from my NUVI I drove around the accident and got back on I24 just west of the accident and I didn't loose time.
East coast
Going to the east coast this week...can't wait. Fall, cool weather, Michael Myers...ha.
Essex, Connecticut
Just up to Connecticut for some R&R.
it's been a slow month ...
I haven't been anywhere so far this month ... very unusual for me.
