Is Garmin Base Camp really worth the time? I'm going nuts trying to use it..

I have an old Nuvi 255W.
Somehow (don’t ask, I don’t know) two files are corrupt.
(gmapprom.img and gmaptz.img)
I believe it is because it was left on and the battery ran all the way down.
It works with the exception that most streets are missing.
Garmin no longer has the files on their server to update this unit.

Just got back from a 1300 mile round trip through Las Vegas and the north rim of the Grand Canyon.

I have "Unpaved Roads" checked as an avoidance on my 2595LMT. Navigation is set to "Faster Time".

We arrived from the west on AZ-89A and my Garmin routed us past AZ 67, the paved road to the entrance of the north rim of the park, to Brahma Road, a dirt road well east of AZ-67.

If this has been covered forgive me & point me there. I ordered the big 7 inch garmin 2797 LMT saturday at Best Buy , should be in wednesday. Anybody else using this nuvi...any issues? ..thanks Stan393

So far I can't say that I am thrilled with the 2595LMT. the 8 million POIs have already proven to be way off in actual location. The other complaint is that steering off the suggested path doesn't get a renewed path on the LMT. The old 660 seems niftier in these regards. I expected a little more for the money. ,artin

My wife and I discussed this weekend about the ambiguity of the school zone signs that read, "20 MPH when children are present." My understanding had been that if there are children actually visible that means 20 mph but otherwise the speed is the posted 35 mph for that street--even during regular school hours, Monday through Friday.

Garmin has opened a portal on their website which allows users to submit ideas for changes and/or new features to their GPS devices.

Currently the wording of the terms of use may need a little work but the fact that Garmin is even making the effort to hear what their users would like to see is encouraging.

I have the 2595LMT and a 12v USB dual charger for my vehicle, I was wondering if there is any difference in charging rate if I plug the Garmin into the 2.1A port or the 1.0A port.

I tried to look up info for the Garmin accessories as to what their outputs were but wasn't able to locate the specs.

I need a new battery for my old 660, where would be the best place to order from online?

I got a new 2595LMT. Works great.

I have one issue though. I have the Portable Friction Mount. This unit does not have the anything in the back to attach on the friction mount.

Did others get this along with the unit? Should i contact Garmin?

When I go in to set the GPS current time via "Settings / Units & Time / Current Time", the "Automatic" checkbox below it is always not clickable. Does anyone who owns this unit have the same issue?

How long should the battery life for a Nuvi 2300 be? I seem to only get about 2 hours.

My Zumo 550 has started to time out while acquiring satellites sometimes it takes 2 or 3 tries to boot.

I am pretty new to Garmin. Could someone please tell me the difference between these programs:

1. Garmin Express
2. Garmin Lifetime Updater
3. MapInstall
4. Mapsource
5. Basecamp
6. Web Updater
7. MyGarmin
8. Any other similar programs.

I just got a micro sd card for my Garmin 1450LMT. I am going to put the 2014.10 map on it when it comes out here. I read that if no maps are found on the internal storage, newer models will check the SD card, but older models will brick, requiring servise by Garmin.

Last year I found a post that outlined a procedure to update to the computer then move the file to the gps. I didn't write down the post and the info, now I want to update to the latest version.

Can someone post the procedure?? Thanks,

Has anyone ever sent their GPS nuvi out for a tune-up?
Mine has been acting funny,and I really don't whant to replace it. so,for 30$ bucks a company says the can clean it up and give it new life.

Basecamp (and Mapsource) has nice Waypoint/POI symbols and the symbols were compatible. The new 3597LMTHD has a new symbol set which is not nearly as nice...but that's not the problem.

I have CN on my nuvi and OSM on my SD card on my 855. Under Tools/Settings/Map/Map Info, both are checked. How does the nuvi handle both files? I've noticed that with both checked, it seems to favour the CN map.
