Has the BMP size changed for POI icons on new Garmin models?

Hello and I apologize if this has already been covered, but I did not find anything through my forum searches.

I just acquired a new Garmin 3597 and uploaded some POIs with BMP icons. From the look of it, the size of the square that shows the icon is much larger than the icon itself, so I am wondering if the actual icon format has been changed as of late?

If I remember right, the old BMPs are 32 x 32, but the square I am looking at on-screen looks to be double that, maybe 64 x 64.

Or is the icon just supposed to be displayed in the center of a grey box that is much bigger?

Any and all help on this would be appreciated. For what it's worth, I chose one of the red light camera BMPs from the library and the colors are showing up inverted. The GPS does not display the icon correctly.

Thanks,

Rob

on my 2595

Have only started playing with the 2595, so take this with a grain of salt.

Created some POIs along a road near me so I could do a simulation.

Had five POIs each with an individual bmp file attached (I used EPE to do that). The first was 24x24, then 32x32, then 48x48, then 60x60 and finally 72x72.

I saw all of the BMPs except the 72x72 so I know that the others display - even though it was truncating the 60x60 for sure - implying that there is some maximum display window.

Someone help me. How do I get the 2595 to show me what the map scale is like my 765T does? I can touch the screen and the "-" "+" symbols come up

PS: interesting thing happened while I was simulating. I was trying to touch the "+" button when I seemed to touch the 24x24 icon and the unit immediately turned off. I restarted it and discovered that information I had been saving into favorites had not been saved to memory.

So, it seems that "sleep" mode does not activate a write to from memory and if the unit "fails", then Saved Places will not be part of current.gpx.
