Garmin talk

We will soon be vacationing and I plan to drive from Anaheim, CA to San Francisco, CA and I want to stay on the Pacific Coast Highway, not expressways. We intend to stop at Hearst Castle on the way north and also Monterey Bay. Any suggestions how to keep my nuvi 350 from trying to put us on expressways, except where necessary?

How do I get my mp3 music files to the Nuvi or SD card? What folder off the Garmin Folder? Do I ues POI Loader?

Three questions:
1) I believe I read somewhere that you can select the type of voice you want to tell you to "turn right on Elm Street." Can I change the voice so it is a man or woman or something else? HOW? I am a real newby. I opened the box 1 hour ago.

Anybody had any problems with their Garmin c530 where it just stopped working? I've had mine for about 15 months and probably use it every weekend.....this weekend I couldn't get it to turn on either on it's own power or while plugged into the car. I also tried hooking it up to the computer and the computer doesn't even recognize that a device is connected.

I received a warning in California last week for having my GPS attached to my windshield mount. It was a rental car and I don't like to trael with sand bags. Does anyone know of a portable mounting option that will work in most rental cars?

As I was browsing through the language folder of my Nuvi 350 - there's a number of languages that I will never use.
Do you know if there's any harm in deleting some of those files? E.g. - I will only use American English - Jack and Jill. Can I delete other languages like Australian English, British English etc?

Hi i have a garmin nuvi 680 - i have paid and downloaded the Red Light and Speed Camera files. Thans You!

my issue is that when I use the POI loader and use "Automatic" the proximity data is there '1319 ft" but the MPH warning states "None" when I look at the custom POI.

any suggestions

Hi - while this is more of a travel issue, the last few years have a seen a growing use of cameras to enforce limited access zones (residents only, no tourists). Alas, one gets a ticket (in the mail) even if one just inadvertently enters for even 100 feet (or whatever gets you near the camera). This is a good cash cow, so they actually send the tickets.

I was wondering if there's a way to show previous search history. Let's say I wanted to find Walmarts. I would go to my location and spell out "Walmart", choose a location, and go there.

Wondering if someone can help. I have two computers, one is a laptop.
I will be travelling oversea soon and wish to take the laptop with me. I currently have 2 maps loaded on to my maim system, Australia and NZ. I want to take the Australia map detail with me on the laptop for use with mapsourse etc.

Today I tried to load some POIs to the internal file on my Nuvi 650. I removed the SD card and proceeded with the POILoader and loaded quite a bunch. It would not load, an error message came up stating not enough space. Hmmmm, the drive was empty, how could that be, no space?

What is a gpx file and how can i create one. When i download one with what program can i modify it.

I am new-ish to Garmin. I have had my nav system for almost a yr and got an update notification today on the screen. I went on their website to get my "free" update and nothing was available. It is saying the 2009 is coming late April but will not let me update the 2008.

Are we supposed to get an update free?

I'm of the age that I find myself getting lost and also need bigger screens. I see the Garmin 2700 going on sale at Costco on-line 4/11 ($500) but don't know if it will fit on my dash.

The listed specs show the hight at 4.5" and width at 7.5". However the pictures look taller when sitting in the mount device.

Hi, I'm new to the forum and GPS's. It's my first one that I just got and I haven't even had a chance to use it yet.

Does the POI Loader "Ignore" function, when selected, mean that POI file will not be loaded and will not appear as a Custom POI? Or does it mean that you are not choosing to set an alert for that POI file, but it will still appear?

New POI Loader 2.5.2 as of March 28, 2008.
Changes made from version 2.5.1 to 2.5.2:
*Fixed an issue with loading BMP files.
*Fixed an issue with saving GPI files to SD cards.

i have a garmin c 330 its about two years old and has all of the current updates the map is nt 8 . twice since i had the unit when you boot it up it says your map is outdated . turn the unit off and boot it up again and i dont get the outdated map thing . only happened twice in two years is it programed to tell you this on a set time frame ? thanks glenn
