NUVI 5000

I Heard through the grape vine Garmin is going to discontine the Nuvi 5000 because you dont have the option to change vehicle types like car truck motorcycle ETC The truckers thought this was going to be a good gps for them but if you drive a big rig this is not the gps to get even though garmin made the screen larger and the font bigger to see more easily

Let me guess: This story started about 3 days ago.....on April 1st, right? mrgreen

Changing the vehicle type changes NOTHING about how the unit really operates, does it ??

It Makes A Difference

Yes it does make a difference in routing if you set your GPS for car or motor cycle it will route you a total different way then when it is set for truck and as for the April fools joke I don't believe so
When i ask a couple of drivers that took there Nuvi 5000 back because it wanted to route them on all the roads a Semi Isn't Allowed. they said that the Store where they bought the units from said thats what they heard Ask Around and see also go to mapsource and set it for car and make a set of way points look at the route then reset mapsource for truck and map the same waypoints it is totally different..... Well I guess you wont be able to do that verification since you have a Magellan ....I Don't know about Megellan

auggie right

I am a Charter Bus and Limo driver and I can tell you that I you have it set to truck then it will take you on batter routes for trucks and not cars. I keep it my c550 on trucks for I do not like there bus routing.
