Nuvi 765T becomes sluggesh when playing MPs etc.

I have noticed that my Nuvi 765T becomes slow in refreshing screens and re-calculating new routes when I am playing MP3s and using MF transmitter on it. If I am not playing MP3 etc. then I have noticed that it is very fast in screen refreshes etc.

Has anyone else notice smilialr behaviour?
I will appreciate your feedback.

Funny You should post this now...

I too noticed this today while using my 785t. I pulled the SD card out and performance returned to normal.

765T

I just ordered a 765T. It should be here in a few days. Are there any other quirks I should know about it?

I think they fixed most of

I think they fixed most of the issues now. Touch screen may be still an issue but they may have fixed it on newer models now. I have to calibrate it many times to make it working properly otherwise when you press a letter, it will pick some other letter from neighbourhood. What I mean is if you press lette "M" it will pickup "N".

I always have that problem. I have big fingers and have to press the mini keyboard very carefully to get the correct letter. Usually, I use some object like a pen (unopened) to select the characters.

quirky touchscreens

These units have had touchscreen issues from the beginning. I had to go through 2 units (both returned to Best Buy as being defective) back just after their initial release. My third unit (purchased from Fry's) was finally a keeper.

The problem is not that fingers are too big (or otherwise); the screens themselves are at issue here (bad hardware). The bad screen's touch area will jump around randomly when you press one area which can cause misinterpreted screen presses...very bad IMO, especially while driving. You can actually see these jumps by using the diagnostic mode (press the battery icon or it's approximate position on the screen if on external power for ~10 seconds). One of the tests is the touchscreen test (solid black screen with a blue dot along with screen coordinates when/where the touchscreen is pressed).

I don't know if this is as big of an issue now as it was when the units were first released...hopefully it's not. If you do happen to get a bad touchscreen, no amount of software (via firmware updates) will correct it so be sure to return it until you get a good one...this may be a big PITA if you purchase online.
