Garmin nuvi 1450 (Rookie User)

arrow My name is Rick from Chesterfield Cou8nty, Virginia. I purchased the Garmin nuvi 1450 because my brother in law has the Garmin 1350 which we used last sunday to go to fedex field in Maryland. I was real impressed because it carried us to our actual parking area from Virginia.

Like i said I purchased the Garmin 1450 and set my home to my actual address. I had to run to the landfield today but when iu hit the icon (home) it carried everywhere but my home, one route carried me within 1.5 miles of my home and turned me in the opposite direction.

Is this something I can expect? in the future? wrong directions? carrying me all around my destination but to my exact point of destination?

Thanks ahead of time for any help that can leadme in the correct direction as well as the Garmin unit.

It's hard telling

From your description, it's hard to tell what was going on. What options do you have set for routing? If you use anything other than quickest, you can get some strange results (not that shortest isn't bad).

Sounds like your address is incorrect in the map database.

You can set you home location using your actual location by selecting Tools>My Data>Set home Location>Use my current location.

There is much discussion about not setting your home location to your home but nearby. This will prevent someone that steals your gps from navigating to you home.

Try a hard reset

I would do a hard reset of your unit and then use webupdater to verify you have the most current updates. When I purchased my 765t my home was shown as about 1-2 blocks further down the road and on the oposite side of the street. I did 2 hard resets and it is better though not as accurate as my nuvi 360 is with latest maps.
As far as setting (or not setting) your home location on your gps most fail to relize there is ample info available in most people's car/vehicle to tell a thief what your address is. I say set your home location and use the garmin lock feature.
