The day i got my new Garmin Nuvi 2797 i made a backup copy and noticed there seemes to be no large files. Am i missing something. My computer (Windows 8) isn't supposed to be hiding any files. With my old Nuvi 1350 i backed it up and deleted the large img file before updating and it all fit everytime. With the 2797 i don't see any img files.

I have the Nuvi 3790, which I generally like quite a bit. I like the voice command feature, because it seems like every time I look at my GPS I almost hit something.

Does your 3597LMTHD have a Trips folder on the internal drive? I didn't make a backup of the internal drive when I first used it few days ago. I tried to make a copy of all the folders today and there's a Trips folder that has gibberish files and sub-folders in it. That folder will not copy.

This method is valid for my Nuvi 1350. It should work with all Garmin models as long as internal R1 is the same.

It's no easy task sticking probes into mini-USB male cord end, so I hope you find this useful for reverse-engineering all kinds of USB-cables, both mini, and micro(with the use of mini-to-micro conversion dongle.

Garmin uses assortment of resistors to identify the cable type.

GPS 2: Nuvi 200W with USA 2008 maps

Since the Navteq maps cost so much, I decided to install OpenStreetMaps (are they much worse than Navteq by the way?). I downloaded them from here: http://garmin.openstreetmap.nl/

Please can you help, I am trying to edit "depth" on a waypoint using Basecamp for MAC.

When I edit the point on my MAC "depth" is not there. Using a Windows PC there is no problem

I have a fairly new Nuvi 2595LM with less than 12 waypoints starting in the northwest and ending in Oklahoma City. The unit cannot finish calculating the route, it gets to 67% and times out with a message that says that I must drive part of the route and it will then be able to finish.

Ok, another newbie question/problem. I have been reading and studying the FAQ's tutorials, etc. and have gotten familiar with my unit's file system and structure. I have installed and tried to use GPSbabel, Extra POI Editor, POI Edit 2007 and POI Loader. I have also tried to create a small POI file is CSV format to load into the 2575. This file has 8 properly formatted POIs in it.

Recently purchased a 2595LMT from Costco (on sale), disappointed that Garmin discontinued "Garmin Lock" on their devices, but nothing I can do about that. Anyway, when I press the address icon for input, the unit pauses for about 5 to 8 seconds before going to the input page. Does anyone else have this problem?, or maybe I have a bad unit.

Having a problem getting the 3.5 gig free OSM map to run on my nuvi 250. I have installed other maps on microSD cards in the past and they work, but if I did any special magic at the time I forget it now. I downloaded the OSM USA map and transferred it to an 8 gig microSD card, putting it in a "garmin" directory on the card.

My recently purchased 3597 was stuck in demo mode. None of the things I tried (driving more than 10 mph for more than 30 seconds; trying to turn off GPS Simulator-it wouldn't uncheck) worked. The unit would re-boot and always come back up in Demo Mode without ever attempting to acquire satellites.

guy im facing an issue with my newly bought 34990. after product registration it said unloack maps, after I went to my maps and downloaded again it said "cannot authenticate maps" . pls assist

My 255w allowed me to attach a photo to each of my favorites, and the photo showed to the left of the favorite in the favorites listings. This was a fun way to look through the favorites.

My 2460lmt doesn't seem to have this capability. Or does it?

My wife, who has a Garmin Nuvi 500, told me this morning that she might like to move up to a Garmin Nuvi with the Voice-Activated Feature. I have really never paid much attention to that feature in the past. Anyway, for those that have this feature, is it worthwhile and do you end up using it much or is it one of those features that really sounds cool, but you rarely use?

Shopping for a new GPS unit. Want the 7" screen with Lifetime Maps and Traffic. Also want to be able to download POI files from this site. I know the Garmin will download - does the RVND 7720 take downloads also?
If you were buying -- which unit would be top choice?

Just used Garmin Express to download new software
2.80 to Garmin 3597 and had no problems downloading it.

We are getting ready for a trip to Kansas and Missouri, we're flying, but will be driving all around once we are there.

Bringing my nuvi 2460 and would love to hear any suggestions you have as far as using it with Mapsource or Basecamp for planning purposes.

Is routing even possible on my 2460?

from my nuvi 255W i deleted the garmin file by accident
When powered up,or connected to USB, a Garmin screen flashes and bleeps repeatedly, until i switch it off (with some difficulty).The computer does not recognise the unit,so i have no access to reload the files
