Nuvi 2595LMT

I picked up 2595LMT from Costco Canada last night. I love this device compaired to my old 765 and 1490.
I am not sure what type of traffice receiver it came with. All I can read is TA20 car charger but does not say anything about traffic receiver. I can I find it?
I will appreciate your help.

.

All the info I can find states that the 2595LMT comes with "HD Digital Traffic". If the power cable is labeled as "TA20 car charger", then it's probably safe to assume that the traffic receiver is one of those that are now built into the GPS unit and not the power cable. I believe Garmin started doing this with some of the recent models. If you have the traffic option available to you from the nuvi, then you indeed have traffic and it's likely built into the nuvi itself.

If you do NOT have the traffic option available to you from the nuvi, then you may have gotten the wrong power cable with the unit, that is assuming that the traffic receiver is NOT built into the nuvi and that it's supposed to be built into the cable.

TA20 traffic

It appears that the TA20 is how your nuvi obtains its traffic. Here's a Garmin faq:

And according to the FAQ posted by CraigW, the TA20 is a "TA traffic antenna cable" and not the "GTM receiver cable". This tells me that the traffic receiver is built into the nuvi and not the cable.

Thanks for your feedback.

Thanks for your feedback. really appreciate it. Yes, I am receiving traffic and also using Garmin app on my Android phone to subscrive for the extra traffic subscription. I was just curious about traffice receiver if it was HD or non HD.

I got a 2495LMTHD from Costco (USA). It comes with HD traffic (GTM60). Costco (USA) still has the 2595LMTHD listed.

http://www.costco.com/Garmin-Nuvi-2595LMTHD-5%22-Portable-GP...

The 2595 model list on Costco (Canada) is 2595LMT

I guess it is the regular FM traffic and not the HD version. I think HD traffic is not available in Canada. sad

Thanks for the

Thanks for the clarification. yes, looks like there is no HD traffic in Canada yet.

The

The 2595LMT comes with 3D traffic and not HD traffic. Often confusing as Garmin keeps changing the names of their traffic service. rolleyes

Is 3D traffic better than regular one?
then again there is 3D and 3D live? I don't know the difference. I think Live is only if you user Garmin app with special subscription..

Check out Garmin's FAQ on the differences between the different traffic services. Note that this is for North American devices.

Just one more question about traffic if anyone using this model with Nulink 3D live traffic in Toronto area. Are the side roads covered or not? I did not see any info on side roads today. Garmin site had Navteq map picture but it does not work anymore.

My own 2595LMT

For what it's worth.

I have had a 2595LMT for about 2.5 years purchased in Massachusetts and it came with a GTM-36 and included FREE Lifetime Naveteq Traffic for US & CAN. I have since added TTN US & CAN.

Functionaly, the GTM-36 is the old style FM traffic reception with receiver in the charger cable just like the newer style GTM-20's used on the 755T/765T.

I must admit that the 2595/GTM-36 combo gets noticeably better traffic reception than my 755T/GTM-20 combo in s side by side test

Have you noticed whether there are any Toronto side streets (e.g. Yonge, Bloor, Dundas) showing up on 3D live?

I have the older 2595 with the GTM36 and was considering subscribing to 3D live if it had side streets.

Well, I am still testing it and don't see any info about side streets all the time. Only incidents are suppose to show up and I could see some road closures as well. I will report back soon with more info but for sure there is no traffic flow info on side streets.

Thanks, Rookie8155! Speaking of side roads, I've noticed that the 2014.10 map has speed limit data foor most major Toronto ones.

Really? which ones? I still have not seen any speed limits in GTA except for highways. Speed limit works since last map updates in Hamilton, Milton areas.

Toronto Streets with Speed Limits

"Went downtown for the first time since updating maps to 2014.10. Noticed that Lakeshore Rd. and Bloor St. had speed limits in the map data. Using simulation mode when I got home, it seems that now most major Toronto roads have them - Lakeshore, Bloor, Lawrence, Eglington, Dundas, College, Yonge, Bathurst, Avenue Rd., Bayview, Islington..."
