Monterra: Wi-Fi Enabled GPS with Android

things we have seen before

Another smartphone with Android? Just like Garmin has done it with many many other dead/dying mobile O/S.

Interesting unit

Interesting unit and nice to see they are embracing the ability to add Android apps with the built in Wi-Fi.

A lot of the features similar to the Garmin Nuvi 295W I had but with android apps added.

Garmin Drive Smart 55 - Samsung Note 10 Smartphone with Google Maps & HERE Apps

$650?

Although Topo maps, weather and FM radio are nice to see... I don't think I'll be a customer at a $650 price tag. Garmin is out of it's mind or (likely) targeting professions/customers that can write this off as a business expense. $650.. seriously??

After purchasing my now paperweight 200W, returning my 765T and 295W under warranty and getting exchange units with dying batteries, broken power/traffic cables ... Garmin can keep their crazy expensive purchase and replacement parts, and no longer supported devices.

I liked wi-fi enough after buying my 295W, that I got a tablet which I now use with CoPilot nav software. Still cheaper than this new unit from Garmin, and it's easier for me to see. FM radio would be nice, but not worth another $200+ imo.

(" many many other dead/dying mobile O/S " ?? Who thinks Linux or Android are dying??? )

It's about the Line- If a line can be drawn between the powers granted and the rights retained, it would seem to be the same thing, whether the latter be secured by declaring that they shall not be abridged, or that the former shall not be extended.
