Map update changelists or logs?
between map updates, say like north america 2009.10, 2009.20, etc is there anywhere we can find what areas are updated or the changes between maps? put another way, is there a way we can find it's worth the effort to upgrade?
thanks!

POI images displaying as you drive around
Garmin Nuvi 255w
I saw a thread somewhere about how/why map symbols will show up as you drive. I can have my custom poi's show as I hit them but not any others. I have seen a nuvi before show a little bank symbol as you drive by a bank but its is not a custom poi. I have tried switching to 2D i have tried zooming in/out all to no avail. Anyone have any experience with this?
mucho thankso

Temporarily Stop Red Light Camera Alerts
I have loaded the RLC alerts on all of our Gps units.
But my wife HATES the annoying "Bong-Bong" and complains every time it goes off. ( Ya... I know.... she'll complain if she gets a ticket too.)
Is there a way to turn off the alerts and not have to delete them? Or at least turn off the volume of the alert only and leave the directions voice alone ?
Thanks

Garmin Mobile XT for Symbian
Does anyone here use Garmin Mobile XT for Symbian S60 particularly with Nokia 5800 Xpress Music (or any other S60 5th edition phone)? Does it freeze a lot?
Here's a list of problems with GMXT ver. 5.00.50 for Symbian S60:
- Incorrect horizontal view (map gets split 75%, 25%)

Factory POI data in 265WT
Hi all,
Where is the data for the stock POIs stored in the Nuvi, and is there an update? They have restaurants, etc. listed and I noticed that a pizza place they have in there has since changed names a couple of times since the one they list, and we're talking at least 3 or 4 years ago.
Is that data stored in the 006D135900 file? If not, where is it coming from, the basemap?
Thanks,

Garmin Mobile XT & Nokia N900
Just had a quick question...I pre-ordered my Nokia N900 from amazon for $582.99, and since it is a Linux based OS, the GMXT will not work on it since GMXT only supports WM/Symbian OS. So my question was, how can I contact garmin, and plead to them to support GMXT with MAEMO OS?
thanks for the advise,
Priyank

Avoiding roads by name and areas
Avoiding roads by name and areas.
I have a 855 and just discovered a nice feature with the 805 series Nuvi's. (It turns out to be in the 800 series also.)
I only find reference to this feature in the downloaded 805 series manual.

Nuvi SW update to 3.8
I've just updated my 775T's SW to 3.8 from the myGarmin site.
My current SW versions are:
GPS-2.9
DSP-2.4
Text-3.8 (American English)
Voice-(American English, Jill)
Hope this helps for a comparison. BTW, the touch screen seems to be more accurate now. Bonus!

Has Anyone Tried This?
Well this morning I officially ended my 40 year affair with film cameras. My last big purchase, a Nikon F4, will be posted on eBay or Craig's List in the near future. They say the lenses I have for it will work with the digital camera I ordered so at least it is not a total loss. For those that are interested I bought a Nikon D90 with a 18-105mm f/3.5-5.6G VR lens.

View POI Icons
![]()
I have a new Garmin NUVI 1360 and have installed the GPS Loader for Windows and downloaded several POI's and their respective icons-naming the icons the same as the POI file name. However, I can't see the icons on the GPS when going to the location just the checkered flag of the destination. What have I overlooked?
thanks in advance....

How to add POI to an existing POI on your Nuvi
I have quite a lot of POIs saved up on my SD card. The problem is that I don't wish to go through the hassle of reloading them all again.
Is there a way or an app out there that can just add POI to my collection on my Nuvi without having it be saved as a waypoint?
Thanks

GPS Software For Windows Mobile Smartphone
I am still using Garmin Mobile XT on my Pharos GPS Phone 600. I occasionally even use it as a phone when I put in my T-Mobile pre-paid SIM card. Typically I use it as a small GPS with wifi built in. Anyway, for those of you that have Windows Mobile devices, what are your favorite freeware or shareware applications? I am not looking to replace Garmin Mobile XT, but rather to supplement it.

Dead Garmin 2XX wanted...
Hello,
My first post on your forum!
I purchased two Garmin Nuvi 260's locally - both had a broken USB connector on the PCB.
I was able to resolder one to the board and it works as expected. The other one will require a replacement USB connector.

fooling your garmin 265wt into accepting routes?
Is there any way of fooling your 265wt into accepting routes you've created in Mapsource, Mapquest, or Google Earth? Can I put routes on an SD card and then access them in my GPS? For instance....On a long trip, day one point "A" to point "B", day two point "B" to point "C", and lastly day three Point "C" to point "E" through point "D".
