View POI Icons

crying
I have a new Garmin NUVI 1360 and have installed the GPS Loader for Windows and downloaded several POI's and their respective icons-naming the icons the same as the POI file name. However, I can't see the icons on the GPS when going to the location just the checkered flag of the destination. What have I overlooked?

thanks in advance....

Viewing Icons

Not a lot of people here have experience with the newest versions of the Nuvi line. However, from experience with the older units, the best way to view icons is to zoom in close - 300 feet or less and/or put it in Track Up view mode where you can have the scale around 800 feet.

Custom icons show best in the "2-D" mode vice the simulated "3-D" mode.

In general you CAN see icons of Custom POIs when you are zoomed way out provided you has set an alarm (sound or silent), are using a .wav or .mp3 file for the sound or silence, and are within the alarm distance. That is until your vehicle icon covers it up as you are zooming miles out

See my article on Custom POI Page 5:

Your original question

If you are on route to a Custom POI and a checkered flag is there, you won't see the custom icon if you are outside of the alert area. If you are inside the alert area then the checkerd flag might be covering up the icon (I can see my icons just under the flag.) Also, if you have broad white lines with arrows indicating turns, they too may be covering up your icon.
