I've looked and lurked and faq'ed to death ... can't get Shell POI to alert !!

I've been lurking for about ~ 5 weeks now, Got my Garmin RV 760 at 99.9% - got POI's working like I think they should .... Red Light and Speed camera's as well.

Even have Flying J - Shell alert with .wav file at 1500 meters *** ALERT ALERT - Flying J Ahead !!! *** YAYAYA (works very well)....

BUT I want SHELL gas stations to do the same with appropriate but different .wav file(when traveling - I want to maximize Shell use so I get the Air Miles).

For the life of me I can't get it to do anything other than "bong". I have scrupulously followed the faq and named ALL exactly the same -

ie:
Shell.csv
Shell.bmp
Shell.wav

... all in the same folder all using POI loader and manual settings ..... it won't work --- arrrrgggggg.

Any thoughts?

perhaps...

the .wav file is in the wrong format.?.? 16 bit, mono or stereo, I believe.

Try a different .wav file

Since you are getting the bong, it is giving you the alert. You got other custom wav files, so you have the right version of SOX (14.0.1) and it is installed properly.

I've used newer versions of SOX and gotten strange results.

That leads me to think there is something about that shell.wav file. I would try a different one (maybe some generic one from this sight just to verify.)

If another sound file works, then you know for sure it's that particular shell.wav that isn't compatible.

Hope this helps.

Never thought of that --- I made up a custom .wav file from 2 (cut and paste) default ones - wonder if Audacity saved it in some wonky .wav format ... I'll check and let you know.

Well thanks to all that replied ... formay of the .wav file was incorrect.

MUST use WAV (Microsoft) signed 16 bit PCM as type .... mine HAD defaulted to 32 bit.. THANKS smile

Nice site...

Don't you just love the help you can get from this site? smile
