POI-Editor - Keeping Symbols when Converting gpx files to kml files

Does anyone know if there is a way to transfer the symbols that I have in my gpx files to a kml file that I create through POI-Editor. What I am trying to do is keep these symbols in my kml file so they will show up in an IPAD app - Avenza which allows the import of kml files and their symbols. If POI-Editor will not allow symbol conversion, does anyone else having any ideas on how this can be done. Any help from you experts is very much appreciated. Thanks
