I'm not sure if I was having a temporary failure with my Garmin C550, We parked in New York and I took my GPS with me in hand. Throughout the city (Manhattan) I couldn't get a GPS fix. Is this normal as the tall buildings block the # of satellites needed to get a fix? Could I have done something (setting) to get a fix? I don't seem to have this problem in Boston.

I just wanted to say Hi to everyone. I just purchased my first GPS (Garmin Streetpilot c580). I'm looking forward to learning a lot of useful information from you all.

I would like to know what is the most rugged, precise and expensive portable gps unit there is out there.

All it needs to do is have gps navigation, traffic updates and weather (preferably full scale live weather with doppler radar, wind, etc. Be readable and operable to the operator while bouncing in a truck.

Let's say that money was no object. What is available out there?

Have a nuvi 370. Are "Favorites" and "Recent Selections" accessible outside of the nuvi. That is, do I have access to those locations in some file. If I can access that data, is it in a usable format.

Doesn't anybody know how to put addresses and phone numbers in a poi file instead of just long lat and exit 24 or exit 232 or the state that they are for

i read some of the forums indicating that they called the Garmin Tech support for that matter. Now do you guys suggest that i should place a call as well to the tech support or i can go to their website for that purpose.

I agree with most everybody on these boards. I just bought my new 660 in January and it had more features than I needed.

I have loaded alot of custom POI's on my 2720, is there any way to load and manage them in MapSource or is there another way to change icons ect from my computer?

Does anyone know of any 3rd party software applications for the Garmin NUVI 660/670 navigator GPS?

Is Toronto Canada the only traffic lights?
Are other cities supported?

I have just received my new map update disk for North America from Garmin. When I loaded it, it said I do not have enough disk space to load both Canada (where I am) and the USA. Was I supposed to remove the old maps that it came with?

there's a low rez version of nuvi wallpaper circulating internet. is there a high rez version? i wanna write my name on spashscreen so that ppl would know its a stolen unit if it was put up for sale. also using garminlock.

I just downloaded the 2008 update (took 48 min.).
During the download they ran some ads, one was for gpsacademy.com. I checked it out and played the detention game (which I suck at). One of the things that Miss GPS (not to be confused with Mis POI) mentioned in the introduction, was the ability to find your car in a parking lot. Then she never went on to explain how.

I have the c330 is there anyway to set the unit up to select say 1 POI instead of all. i.e. Red light cameras or ice cream store. What I have been doing was downloading ice cream store and when I finished going to them I would redownload red light cameras. I really dont want to have all the the POI's and have it ring too much but ring only for the type of POI I need at that moment.
