New Nuvi User
Hi all, I'm a new Nuvi (370) user here. Been wanting one for quite a while, got it for Xmas, and went on a trip 3 days after I got mine. Talk about a learning curve! So far I've got the Fodor's and MP3s loaded along with a few pictures.

GPS With Auxiliary Inputs
Has anyone seen any GPS units that have connections to accept auxiliary inputs? For example, say you wanted to have a camera on the back of your RV when you are in reverse and wanted to use a Garmin Nuvi 750 or 7200 for the display.

POI Capacity in a GPS
Generic question... My Garmin Nuvi 350 default factory load consumes about 1GB of space. I've heard it contains about 6 million built-in POIs.
However, this thing knows about essentially EVERY household and business and park and street and landmark in the US. There were 120 million homes in the US in 2001. FAR more than 6 million POIs. Right?

How to get coordinates using google maps
I've been trying to find out how to get coordinates using google maps, and finally found a way that seems to work, but wondering if there is another way.
The way it seems to work is: After you find the place you are looking for, use the "send" option (next to print, and about 2/3 towards the end of the "Link" line in the body of the Message are the coordinates.

The Mapsource Data DVD
Not entirely certain so I thought it best to ask the "brain trust" rather than goof up the Garmin 750. My nuvi 750 came pre-loaded with the current City Navigator NT North America 2008 map. I also requested the DVD from Garmin and received it totally free in 4 days. Fantastic service! My questions are as follows:
1) Is there anything on this DVD that I don't already have on my GPS unit?

GPS Clubs
With the GPS becoming so popular now.Has anyone started to see any local GPS clubs starting up?This reminds me back when the CB radios got to the point everybody wanted one.A lot of local clubs were formed as a result. Not only did ideas get shared but a lot of them worked with the communities.

Tamara
Plug these coordinates, 65 14 43S 64 15 24W, into Google Earth and check out some of the local pictures. My friend is anchored at this location. His boat, Tamara, and pictures of his trip are shown in his blogspot: http://krillroye.blogspot.com/

Nav-Mat, Great for one GPS, but multiple vehicles
I have one Garmin SP 340, and 3 vehicles to choose from. I felt like my mount would not last long having to move the mount back and forth. I found "Nav-Mat" in Best Buy. They sell for $39.95, but were on sale for $29.95. I bought one, and I like it very much. It is heavy, and the bottom of it has a antiskid pad that is very non-skidish. It stays where you put it. Very well made.

Request for Change (RFC) - Metro section
Miss Poi,
Is it possible to add the metro section as section tab
(next to discussion) or a link on the front page. This section is growing and needs attention. As people travel to other locations they can scan the metro section for local POI in that area. The search features works fine but a link/tab may be better.
Corrections to the Chicago metro:

Speed accuracy?
I've tried my C340 in a few different cars and have noticed that the speed is consistently 3-5 MPH below what the car's speedometer reads. The faster I am driving, the greater the discrepancy. I'd figure that the GPS reading would be the more accurate of the two, especially over distance, but the cars seem to all agree with each other. Has anybody taken a look into the accuracy of this?
Contributors of the week 2007-01-07
This week we are recognizing Dbrillha and Sofrito.
Dbrillha, You made a fantastic guide for new members to use to help them make files and alerts. I know that you spent a considerable about of time building this guide. Thank you so much for sharing this with us.
Sofrito, You have been filling in some of the missing links for the CT and RI areas. Thanks for making those missing files.
