Corps of Engineers RV Parks

Somewhere I saw a POI of U.S. Army COE Parks that accommodate RV's. Did anyone else see the same if so I would appreciate the help?

Help with node link

I suspect this has already been discussed on this site so please help with a node link. I have a map which I made with mapman and would like to make it possible to have my nuvi670 find the streets and use them for routes. Is there a topic location I can read to see how this is done rolleyes

Mexico Maps GPS Atlas V2 - released (bicimapas)

V2 now released:

Notes from the Publisher about the update.

New Features

Added street detail for the remaining State Capital cities:
Aguascalientes, Colima, Tuxtla Gutiérrez, Durango, Chilpancingo,
Morelia, Tepic, Ciudad Victoria, Tlaxcala, Xalapa, Zacatecas,
Saltillo, Culiacán.

Added the following cities as a suggested by several customers: San

FOOD POI per state (known to small places)

Do we have a POI for restaurant/diner/etc. that when you visit places that somebody recommends that they don't miss if they visit some states?

For example, when you visit Philly, don't forget to try GENO's, PATs etc.

Most of this I watch from FOOD network.

Alert sounds

I just came across the alert sounds page; so I started browsing the files. Living in a big city, if I put a majority of them on my gps, it would be going off all of the time. Best Buy alert, CompUSA alert (which they are selling out and will be no more), restaurant alerts, wow... more than what I would have ever thought of. grin

Number of Icons that can be loaded onto my custom POI's.

I am able to only load 256 icons onto my custom poi listing. I have tried to load files either (1)totally onto my gps 7200, (2) totally onto my sd card or (3)any combination of the two. The number of files are not limited to 256, but when my number of icons reaches 256, no further icons are loaded. Any files after the 256 are loaded without any problems.

Screwed out of points???

Have any of you been screwed out of you points at Get-Go? I have been told by a friend that he hadn't use his for three months and when he went to get his gas..

Theft of GPS's

I noticed that at least in the Chicago area (NW side) the theft of GPS units increased dramatically in the last few months. i have several friends that had their GPS's stolen from cars. One case is worth mentioning.

Various GPS mounting solutions

Hi All,

Has anyone come up with any mounting solution for the GPS?

I know of the suction mount, vent mount and I've seen the mount on the actual car charger.

If you have any invention or idea of where you can place your GPS, THIS is the place to bring it to life.

Cheers!

Chatty Charley thread for the week of January 21th 2008

This is the place to talk about things that are not gps related, you can discuss whatever you would like, as long as it is clean. Remember we have families that have their children involved in the GPS fun and we don't want to make parents feel uncomfortable when their children ask what that word means.

Have fun...

This thread will be closed on Monday and a new one will be opened.

Contributors of the week 2008-01-14

This week was a hard one to figure out. There has been a huge increase in the work flow since Christmas. I ran some numbers today and in the last 7 days we have 175 new files or additions to old files. We also added 32 new icons and 25 new sound alert files, I am so impressed by what is happening here.

Going to Playa Del Carmin Mexico

Hi All I am going to PLaya Del Carmin Mexica which is in the Riveira Maya section of Mexico. I have a Nuvi 660. Will I need to upload maps before I go? It looks like I have some sites in there already from when I uploaded My fodors travel guide.

Also Doeas Anybody buddy know where I can upload any good walking tours?

HOW ?

Debating which to get Garmin 650 or TT 720.
Much debate on map inaccuracy's etc, I understand this is important.

However, ability to travel and use programed info. is also very important to me.

Questions:

Harvester

Judging by the amount of new POI files, I think it would be fair to say that some folks are submitting files not in accordance with the request to not post them here. Does anyone know if there is a way to differentiate wether a file has been created using Harvester?? I imagine most of these files would be riddled with mistakes......Just curious. smile

But Don't try this on the ground

FAA seems to be considering replacing the radar network with a GPS-based system for aircraft navigation.

Makes sense to me.

Sound file comment

I have a question. I was browsing the sounds area and found many of the sounds were synthesized like "text to speech," why would you need this file?

I thought it might be better if it was a voice over or the actual sound bite.

IMHO..

Site Suggestion

JM,
Would it possible, when you check the unread posts, that when you place the cursor over the title of a post that the full title be displayed in a small window. That would prevent from opening many posts that we are not necessarily interested in at the moment.
Thank you for ready me.

Ricoh Caplio Pro G3 (Camera with a built in GPS?)

Has anyone out there ever heard of something like this?
If you have one, where the heck can I get one in Canada?

It's a Camara that stamps on the photo the GPS coordinates of where the pic. was taken.

Every time a message shows me that the disk is full or the system exceeded.

Cannot download vehicle icons to the Garmin C510

I am trying to download the vehicle icons to my Garmin C510.

An Error gives me the following message:-

Either the disk is full or system exceeded.
