I am new to GPS units. I just purchased a Magellan 4250 and have 90 days to try it out. After finding this site, I am interested in exploring the world of custom POIs.

I am relatively new to the GPS world and was wondering who has had a GPSr the longest (doesn't have to be the same one). Also, how many have you gone through since the first one.

I bought mine about 1 year ago. First it was the SP c530 and now the Nüvi.

I recently made a new car graphic to match my car. Can I name the .srf file whatever I want to or do I have to name it after one currently in the Garmin database? And does the filename determine what name it display in the menu?

Does anyone have or would like to have a poi of supermarkets? I could really use this for my work and was wondering if anyone else has or has the need for a supermarket poi. I was specifically looking for nj tri state area for Shoprite, Pathmark and A&P. their websites do not provide any help.

Does anyone know how to contact the map maker for garmin to let them know that the new version 2008 still list roads that no longer exists that are either now corn or soy bean fields or just woods

In your opinions what are the pros and cons of each? There are Black Friday deals for both of these units, and I am trying to determine which one to go with.

I've read that the Tele Atlas maps the TomTom uses are not as good as the NavTeq maps the Garmin uses. Any truth to this?

Any thoughts on functionality between the two?

Has anyone purchased one of these or seen on, the screen shot really looks cool, as though you are actually on a road and you can see lanes and speed limits. I wonder if it is really that detailed? I can't see it knowing which lane you are in since GPS isn't that accurate, but.....

My wife just purchased a 660 for me (and her ).

They're amazing! Going to our kids sports often entails multiple schools. I don't know where some are. The school POI is just the perfect solution. No more last minute Google maps and print outs.
