Chatty Charley thread for the week of March 24th 2008

This is the place to talk about things that are not gps related, you can discuss whatever you would like, as long as it is clean. Remember we have families that have their children involved in the GPS fun and we don't want to make parents feel uncomfortable when their children ask what that word means.

Have fun...

This thread will be closed on Monday and a new one will be opened.

Is it really true?

I made it here before Charley? LOL

Well, Cheryl (in the name books) is the female equivalent of Charles..so I guess it's okay.

Hope everyone had a good Easter.

I spent it with the 48 hour flu. I'm better today.

I didn't post because my daughter and I went to my old HS (Miller School of Albemarle, which is a prep school now, but was a military/prep school when I went there) yesterday. It was depressing. I was talking to this senior when I realized that she probably wasn't even born when I graduated. She probably thought that I was really old. I remember when people would come back and visit and it had been like 15+ years, I thought they were old.

Hey Charley

I just took a quiz of things that were in vogue and necessary during WWII and up to the late 40's.

If you got 17-20 out of 20 correct you had to be older than dirt.

Damn, I got all the answers correct.

Tells ya something ! sad

Kinda fun thing to do...

I've been product testing for this marketing company for over three years, just for fun. They asked if I knew any guys that might be interested, so I thought I'd pass it on. (If it's okay with Miss POI.)

They send you free stuff to try, fill in a simple online form to let them know if you like it or not. They don't sell anything, they are strictly a feedback company. The reports are up to you, they just trust you will do one or two.

I'll be signing up for this campaign, for sure.

Cheers!
Cheryl

BZZAGENT EMAIL SENT TO ME:

Know any guy friends or colleagues who'd be interested in a smooth whisky that's great alone or in a no fuss, sophisticated cocktail?

If so, let them know about the new campaign we're launching soon! As long as they're 25 or older, there's a good chance they'll qualify to try some of this whisky for free!

Forward this email to guys you know so they can quickly sign up for BzzAgent at the link below.

Guys: Learn more and join now!

Or, simply copy and paste this link: www.bzzagent.com/go/whisky

We're guessing your guy friends will thank you for the heads up, so what are you waiting for? After all, this whisky is what dad drank back in the day, when he didn't want a beer and wouldn't be caught dead with a tiny umbrella. Think you know someone who'd be interested?

I did the same thing, then checked the dictionary. Both spellings are acceptable. I prefer whiskey.

Man - I sure feel sorry for you truckers!! Diesel fuel is more expensive than gas (and easier to make) and we know you don't get much mileage out of a gallon of that fuel oil. I wouldn't blame you guys at all if you stuck - and crippled this country. Maybe then some folks in Gov't would wake up to your plight!

Its been all over the News: Fox - ABC- local stations.

The concept sound good but it depends on having lots of units in the street to report the traffic conditions back to base.

Diesel fuel is a byproduct of making gasoline. Use to be diesel was way cheaper than gas. Now it's almost a $1.00 more per gallon.

Diesel is now averaging $3.999 a gal. Big trucks get about 6 miles per gallon. And burn about 1 gallon per hour when idling. And for those of you who are against trucks idling, would you sit in a steel box, with the sun beating on it, in the middle of the summer, with no a/c? Or how about in the winter? Sitting in the same steel box with no heat?
Some people think it's ok. We are only human, trying to do a job and survive in order to bring you your goods to the store.
We need more people to help, by contacting their government officials and voicing their opinions about this anti-idling matter.

Ok, I'm done. (Hopping off soapbox) NEXT!

Jar-heads and POI Factory

shock miss poi I was taking 56 Marines aka jar-heads from one base to another a 6 hr trip training you know. One of them sow my Garmin c330 and heard it talking and ask what it was. Another marine spoke up and told him. This started a 3 hr conversation on GPS and Garmin, Tom Tom and many other and the POI Factory. It turns out many of them either look here from time to time or are members of POI Factory. Hi gays. They even told me that they look on the web site while they are in the war zones. I just thought you mite like to know.
