Just got a Garmin c550 and my wife has a Nuvi 200W. Great little devices and hopefully we can come up with some interesting POI's to share in NC. I already found a listing of NC wineries and BBQ places, so not sure what will be left!

Can someone direct me to a past post/discussion on creating a custom step by step "poi" file. Would like to surprise the wife by installing it on her nuvi 200 and have it alert it to when she's by her favorite health food establishment. I have excel and the six locations close by to us.

Hi great forum . I have tried to load a couple of your great poi files to my lg ln730 they load great except that all I see in the list is the latitude nothing else . When I click on this the response is not found on this map. I have read where the order of the columns may be wrong in the cvs file. any help would be appreciated . And yes I have read the getting started and faqs. Dennis

I'm not computer literate, but I've been "volunteered" to set up a discussion forum for our paddling club. I really like the way this forum is set up. Is this "software" available to anyone or is it custom?

BTW, does anyone know of a good source for kayak put-in locations in the NE?

A new owner, I am overdosing on custom POIs, but it occurs to me that some will be announcing themselves to me as I hurtle down a freeway at not-quite-legal speeds. How do I choose the distance at which various categories will announce themselves?

Excuse me for sounding ignorant, but i am new to the GPS user end of things and i have been looking over the POI. What exactly do i do with them if i download a POI file and what exactly does it do? Thanks

I noticed on E-bay, a seller in the U.K. is offering battery replacements for the Nuvie 6xx series. The cost is about $20 bucks.

I recently purchased my first GPS, a MIO C220 and generally pretty happy with it. Some of the reviews I saw before purchase I thought were unwarranted, especially about screen brightness.

This is my first GPS, so I certainly am not a wizard on GPS's.

I was using the Toyota USA POI file today when I tried to go to the Cerritos Toyota (California)location using my NUVI. I know how to get there, but wanted to use my my NUVI for the heck of it. I followed the directions, but it led me to a residential area several blocks away.

I have lost my "recent posts" ability has anyone else had this problem?

Hi All,

I have a Nüvi 670 and my question has to do with communicating with the GPSr, when making a phone call.

Do I have to use my Bluetooth headset to talk, when making a call, or will the Nüvi 670 receive my voice "directly" through the GPSr itself?

I did a little research before buying this unit. But Now I checked other GPS units with few of my friends, and I found that it lacks a lot of features for its price. By the way, I paid USD 256 for it. I also learnt that this model is discontinued.

Just thought I'd make my first post. A friend of mine told me about this site today and it looks great.

Prior to this evening, when I logged in I and went to the discussions page, I was able to veiw all recent posts, as well as all posts I had been involved in. I don't see those options now. Has the forum changed in some way, or is this a local setting I have missed?

This was a lead article on Yahoo today(12-26-07 p.m.). I was hoping my Garmin 660 would last longer than what they projected. According to this, mine is already 1/3 shot.

I'm new to a GPS device (Garmin Nuvi 350), this forum, and POIs in general. I downloaded the 13,275 row Radio Stations CSV file. But, it is missing the Genre of the stations. I'd like to know if a station is Jazz, Classic Rock, Christian, NPR, etc. Is there a file that includes the "genre" for all stations, without downloading separate files for each classification?
