Need help to chose the right GPS

Me and DW are traveling with a trailer since 2002 in North America for 4-5 months each summer.
Till now never used a GPS and are looking to get our first one.
As you can imagine my knowledge is limited and therefore need your assistance.
I would like the GPS to be:
A.RV friendly (locate Campgrounds, dump stations, low bridges , gas stations and so on)
B.Possibility to add POI.

On The Border & Red Lobster POI's

I am a big On The Border and Red Lobster Fan. Does anyone have a US list of them in POI format? Old Dano needs his fix.

Zoo's in the USA

Downloaded the "Zoo's" poi and upon using it our local zoo was not listed. To who or whom do I contact to have it added?

coordinates

If anyone is interested there is a website that has three free downloads which are zipped csv files. There is a file on zip codes 41,700 entries, US cities 192,611 entries, and Canadian cities 12,082 entries. I thought if people had a use for them it would be just as easy to go to their site and download them. The url is:

Everyday is a GREAT day :)

Chatty Charley thread for the week of December 31st 2007

This is the place to talk about things that are not gps related, you can discuss whatever you would like, as long as it is clean. Remember we have families that have their children involved in the GPS fun and we don't want to make parents feel uncomfortable when their children ask what that word means.

Have fun...

This thread will be closed on Monday and a new one will be opened.

Does anyone have any experience with the TomTom GO920?

I currently use the Garmin Nuvi 860 but was thinking about buying the TomTom GO920 because it is on sale at Costco.com for $399.00 and includes maps of North America and Europe. Since the full CD of Europe from Garmin was about $300.00, I figured I would pay the extra $100.00 and get Europe maps and a backup GPSR with additional features, but I know very little about TomTom and the GO920.

Contributors Of The Year 2007

Ok I am going to give you advance notice that this post is going to be emotional and very loving to the people that I am honoring.

With this Contributor of the week we close on the year 2007, so I am doing a special recognition post to two very special and very important people within our community.

Some numbers for the week....

I wanted to let you guys know how many people signed up this week to participate in the forums.

3,849 new members have joined in the last 7 days. Since Christmas day we have been getting 10,000 visits a day.

Search window

At the top of most, if not all, pages on this fantastic website is a window labeled Seach. This is a good place for all newbies to start. If you have a question, please check this out before posting. Not only will you probably get your question answered, you'll probably find the answer to the next question you were going to ask. There's also the FAQ link. Gobs of good information here.

This morning I had two pages of unread threads, most of which have been answered over and over again. Not only would using these site features help with this problem, it just might reduce the site traffic enough that JM and Miss POI won't have to 'spend' for a new Server right now.

Thanks.

Success creating a new poi...but...

HELP..finally created a new poi file for the wifes favorite health food establishments...followed the directions from this web site and some one on one coaching..

Site suggestions

I couldn't fine these suggested on the forums anywhere. Two thoughts that may already be on the site "to do" list:

1) A "subscribe to" for POI files, so that we could get an e-mail when a POI file is updated.

2) On threads with multiple pages, it would be handy to have the page numbers and links at the top of the page as well as the bottom.
