shopping for a GPS

I'm new here. Hi. This is a very helpful site and I'm impressed by all the info I've found here.

I don't actually own a GPS, yet. I've been borrowing my Dad's - a Garmin C340 - on an as needed basis.

It might be time for me to get one of my own. So I've been looking around to see what's what. I'm no GPS expert, and I don't want to spend a lot of money. I can't seem to find a GPS that has the features I want.

One feature that I thought would be standard is the ability to mark and save your current location. I can't seem to find an automotive GPS that has that feature. What's up with that? Am I misunderstanding something? Does that feature have some special name that I don't know? Help me, please.

Thanks in advance.

Nuvi

All Nuvi Units (I believe) have that feature. You just touch the vehicle/arrow on the screen and the unit brings up a screen that allows you to save location.

The StreetPilot C550 has the same feature as the Nuvi Units.

Thanks!

This feature must not be a big selling point!

I'm at the Garmin website looking at product pages and If ya'll hadn't told me the nuvi's would do this I would never know.

Now I'm downloading manuals to see exactly which units have this feature.

Thanks for putting me on the right track.

On my Nuvi 350, while idle,

On my Nuvi 350, while idle, you tap the screen for an overhead view and hit Set Loc. It's a handy feature for when you've parked somewhere and trying to locate your car.

Nuvi 350

seems to be the one. Not too expensive and it has the features I want.

Nuvi 350

I have heard good things regarding both the 350 and 360, seems like a good choice getting either one.
