This week we are recognizing Mahoney!

Yes, Mahoney gets recognized frequently, for good reason! Not only does he maintain about 155 files, he updated over 30 of them in the last month!
Besides being an outstanding general maintainer, last Wednesday I had two wisdom teeth pulled and he was extremely patient with me and the time it took for me to assist him with a request.

Garmin Dog on dogshaming.com is not ashamed

Any other dog owners have this problem??
http://www.dogshaming.com/2013/02/garmin-dog/

BTW, dogshaming.com is a circa six-month old website where people post photos of dogs in need of Puritan-style shaming. Some of the photos and captions are very funny. Worth a visit.

BE WARY: Map Updates often Slow to Conform to RIGHT-HAND-EXIT Standard of New Construction

Everybody has probably seen this sort of thing happening now: There is new construction going on in an area, and that new construction changed the layout of exit(s) or fork(s) in such a way that, previously, exiting was counter-intuitive, so that, say, if travelling on Route Y, in order to:

Change to Route X --> bear (or exit) Left
Continue on Rte Y --> bear (or exit, or stay) Right

Happy new year everyone!

DHS Purchasing An Alamrming Amount of Ammunition

This is likely off topic of this site - but scary and something people need to be aware of! What's going on here?

speedometer accuracy.

Has anyone checked the accuracy of the speedometer against their GPS?
Barbara purchased a 2013 Scion XD. The speedometer matches the indicated speed of my 1450, EXACTLY at all speeds from 20 to 65 mph. The miles traveled show the odometer accurate also.
The 2010 Scion that she traded in had an error of about 2 mph at highway speeds. When new tires were purchased the error did not change.

You're getting stuck in traffic less

You're getting stuck in traffic less?

About 10% of cars currently on the road have GPS systems that provide real-time traffic information, said Jim Bak, a spokesman for Inrix, a provider of traffic software and data. By 2015, that number is expected to be 50%, said Bak.
"There technology and the tools are there," he said. "You don't just have to sit there and be a lemming on your commute."

Garmin 2555LMT

I recently purchased a Garmin NUVI 2555LMT. After spending almost $200, I find out that the Cyclops traffic safety camera programs don't work on this unit. Will the download from this site work on my Garmin? If not, does anyone know where I can find one, or do I have to return my unit for one that is compatible with this POI application. Thanks!

Hidden Files and Folders

I have a 765T and do not think that I have any hidden files or folders on this unit. If anyone thinks I am mistaken with this assumption, please let me know

What I am hoping is that I can get some help with in determining whether a technique I use for backups (using ISO files to DVDs) will write out hidden files/folders regardless of how the options in "Folder Options" are set.

Monthly GPS Deals/Bargains sticky thread?

Happy Superbowl Eve everyone. I wanted to toss this idea out for discussion.

What do Mods and everyone else think about having a monthly sticky thread for posting GPS related deals and bargains that we may discover in our internet travels?

GPm files

Every time I try to down load a GPM file it wants to open in Microsoft Office while CVX files open in Excel. None of the files that try to open in Office are usable. Anyone know what is going on? I use windows 7

Keeping the Windmill Alive - Your last trip? - February 2013

In danger of losing your windmill?

Maybe you can share with us the last place your GPS took you and if you encountered any problems, or if you use it to seek out special places to go (like Thai Food, ice cream shoppes, etc.) Anything to keep your windmill alive.

This thread will be closed on the last day of the month and a new one will be opened.
