where are we headed
Going somewhere for business, and pleasure, business first, pleasure the rest of the week.
So on our personal car rental, it's $164 per week (reasonable), with an additional $107 in taxes. I find that rate pretty unreasonable myself.
Based on the tax rate, any guesses as to where we're going?
(hint, a band that just played the last 2 nights in Santa Clara will be here next weekend)

Smileys (fixed)
Greetings,
My PC or The Factory's software seems to have a problem with one Smiley.
There is an icon for the Question Smiley (a question mark inside the yellow circle), but when I try to add this smiley to a message, I don't get the question mark. Instead I get this:
![]()
which I see as the Confused Smiley followed by a colon.

This week we are recognizing, Ranman53!
Ranman53 is a relative newcomer to POI Factory, but he posted a comment last week in the Garmin North American 2016.10 Map Update thread that educated, amused and generally entertained many of us.
(The link above should take you directly to the comment).

How much do you know about the world around you?
I have no vested interest in this site but I thought people here might find it interesting. It's actually kind of addicting once you start playing.

How Does Garmin And Others Actually Get Their POI information?
So, as posted above, I am wondering how Garmin, and others, currently get their POI data? Is it from HERE or someone else? The reason I ask is sort of a selfish motivation. One of my hobbies is riding ATVs. I generally ride on Minnesota or Wisconsin State DNR trails. When I want to buy gasoline near a trail, it is pretty important to have current, correct, accurate information.

New phishing scam (password or verification code)
Does anyone use 2FA (2-Factor Authentication) or 2-step verification? Do you know that cyber criminals can reset your online password by knowing your email address and phone number? The following video explains how it works:

New FAQ - linking to a specific post.
For members who post frequently on POI Factory, I have added a new FAQ that may be helpful: http://www.poi-factory.com/node/44758. I know many of you already know how to this, but there are others who don't.

Wisconsin now going to 70mph
Today, Tuesday, county crews are changing signs on the interstates in Wisconsin, raising the speed limit from 65 to 70.
They do stress that until the sign gets changed, the speed limit remains the same. The expect all the signs to be changed by Wednesday.

2015 Leap Second to be Added Tonight (6/30) at Midnight
As discussed in this earlier post:
http://www.poi-factory.com/node/44006
This leap second addition is unlikely to cause issues with GPS satellites or receivers. It should be noted however that the GLONAS system may be affected briefly at 0:00 hours UTC on 7/1. Older GLONAS receivers are at higher risk:
