Magellan Maestro 4000 POI creation

Hi,

It's my first post, so be gentle smile

I downloaded several POI files to upload to my Maestro 4000 gps. I took the csv files and opened them in Magellan POI File Editor. I was able to create 4 MGLN (magellan POI files) without problem. After those 4 files, whenever I opened a csv in Magellan's POI File Editor, no matter how many or how few POI's there where, it would only save 1 POI in the file (the last POI in the file).

I uninstalled the program, restarted, reinstalled and the same problem occured. I tried opening files only with notepad (and making any of changes i needed to there) and got the same results.

I then installed POIEdit 2007 and opened the CSV files as Garmin CSV's, and saved them out as .GPX files. The first one i tried this with worked fine. I was able to create the POI file and load onto my GPS. All other files I tried this with had the same result. When I opened them in Magellan's POI Editor all the POI's appeared in their correct geographic location, however when I saved them out, there was only 1 POI file.

I tried selecting all of the POI's prior to saving, but this didn't help.

Has anyone else seen problems like this? Any suggestions would be appreciated. The computer is a Centrino 2.0 ghz, with 1 GB ram, 8 GB free HD space. I was using Excel 2007, then wordpad, then notepad to open the csv files. The computer is running WindowsXP Professional SP2.

thanks in advance for any guidance.

Are there any other POI creation programs that can save out as MGLN files?

Your problem may be the same. You can't have the same name in more than one entry in the Magellan POI editor or it trashes all but one when saved.

I would also be interested in another POI Editor for Magellan GPS. I hope someone responds with one.
