Creating POI files

I have seen how to create a csv file in Excel, it is simple enough. GPX file creation however seems too complex for me to grasp an understanding of, mostly how to create this kind of file. Is there a GPX creator for Dummies out there?

My wife and I do a lot of travelling around the USA and love our Nuvi 350... One deficiency in the unit seems to be it's inability to change time of arrival info, etc. when crossing into another time zone....

I created a POI file from google earth and it works perfect only thing is on my map when im driving it doesn't show the image i created for it (i got from this site) but if i go in "Custome POI" and click on show on map it shows the image. Could someone help me please! Thanks!

What is the preferred format of the 4th column when submitting POI to the site? I have a 660 that displays CR/LF correctly but I know that's an issue with other units.

I have just created my first POI file. It is a very simple directory-type file that has Longitude in the first column, latitude in the second column (following the recommendations from "Bandaid", I have put -73.17417 in the Longitude column, increasing by .00001 each row, and 40.38065 in the Latitude column every row).

I tried to install the Microbrew POI file (beer.cvs) and I keep getting "...data format error on line 5... no more data can be read..." and then I get "...succesfully installed 2 points of interest.."

Hmmmm...

I looked at the first group of lines and can't see anything marked "*ERROR RIGHT HERE*" and it looks to be in the correct format... anyone have any suggestion??? thanks...

I'm installing on a Garmin Nuvi 660.

I have downloaded the Garmin POILoader software. I then downloaded a POI from here (ny-finger-lakes.csv). That file I put into a new folder titled GPS POIs.

I have been trying to install POi file on to my GPS but it seems Loader is over writing new file on to odler 1. I dont know it never hpnd before. Can any body tell me whats worng, or i m doing some thing worng

iam trying to put poi on my garmin 350 i keep getting this message.

only 32 poi files are allowed in a subdirectory.
the directory c/bridge poi files/bridge poi files exceeds that limit.
please reorganize your poi files and run poi lader again.

can any one help new to this.

I have created a POI file folder under my documents and cannot get anything to load into it when I go to File>Save As. An error message come up stating it does not recognise a file name or path. I tried some of the tried and true files from this forum and still cannot get them to load into my POI folder. Sure could use some help.

I'm just learning here, so please be patient with me.

New to this forum and maybe it is here but cannot locate: trying to download mp3 file from audio file
list but unable to save as, or save etc as those choices are "greyed" and when file opens, it opens
as a quick time file which I can't seem to save.

Has anybody got any suggestions? Would I assume I
have some setting on my pc incorrect and if so what?

I am new on POI Factory and GPSs and already I have learned at lot, thanks to everybody who contributed to POI Factory. Pretty soon I will do my share.

I have a Garmin C530 and I created a few POI files for my area. I am using the 4 column system, i.e. Lon, Lat, Name and Phone # or Lon, Lat, Name and City.

I have a Garmin 2720 that I'm trying to download the Flying J POI's to the unit. When using the Garmin program it asks for the file location - darn me, I can't locate the file in Excel. Very frustrating. Can anyone help me?

I have loaded a number of poi files onto my c330. I saved the file to a folder and using the poi loader uploaded to my gps unit. No problem! I tried doing the same with the red light file and do not get a transfer to the gps ? Is there something different with these files? must I change the format? As you can tell I'm not too swift with computers. Thanks for any help you can provide.

Please advise me where to put the POI files for Canadian content. I uploaded teh curling clubs for metro Halifax under sports but maybe I should've placed them under "Canada". Same applies for toll roads in Nova Scotia. Placed them under transportation not Canada.

Could someone provide me some guidance?
