Downloads POI to SD card / or to Garmin 330

I just bought the Garmin 330 and would like to find out, how can I download files to my Garmin 330.
I went to the garmin web site, I downloaded their programs, but it doesn't work.
How can I download red lights and speed traps, can they go to the SD card or directly to the GPS.
What is the SD slot exactly good for?

the sd slot is basically an sd card holder

Of course it's use would be for map data, perhaps the European map set for example.

The 320, 330, 340 models have a SD card slot, however they cannot read custom POI data from a SD card.

Check out GPS models tab at the top of the page to find more info, or search using 330 and sd card.

See "Getting Started" for information on how to download and install POIs. On your GPSr, you would load them directly onto the GPSr, not to the SD card.

POIs on SD

I keep all of the POIs that I create and download on the SD card. When I run POI Loader, I direct it to create the poi.gpi file on the GPSr, not the SD card.

Doesn't work on C330

This is not an option on the C330. The SD card on this unit is for Maps produced by Garmin, otherwise, might just as well put tape over it.

Can POI be read fron the SD

Can POI be read fron the SD card on a Nuvi 200?

Yes, nuvi 200's can read SD files

My nuvi 200 will read POIs and pictures from the SD card. I store my csv's on the SD and upload them to the GSPr memory with POI loader, but it will read the poi files directly from the SD.

I think my nuvi performs a little faster without an SD card, but it could be my imagination.

Nuvi 200

Thanks. I found out what I was doing wrong. I leave mine on the SD card just as a precaution.

Read poi from sd card

I can put poi on sd card on 200 but cannot read them.
Can they be read from sd car an if so how.

Are you putting the .csv or .gpx POI file straight to the SD card or are you converting the POI's to a .gpi file?

You have to use POI Loader to convert the .csv or .gpx file to a .gpi file that goes into the "GARMIN" folder on the sd card. Put all the POI's that you want to go onto your sd card in a file on your desktop (or wherever) run POI Loader and it will walk you through everything.

Read poi from sd card

I can put the files on sd card but can not get them to read how are you getting them to read from the SD card?

Thanks

.

You need LOAD them with POI Loader.

Assuming that your profile is correct and that you have a nuvi 200, run POI Loader and select the SD card as the destination.

Then the Custom POIs will show up under Extras > Custom POIs on the unit.
