Creating POI files

I use EPE to maintain a POI file and it works well. Now I wish to share my data with someone else to use on a web site. The problem is that all the file "save as" formats seem to not do as I want. I would like a file that can be opened with Microsoft Excel. The 2 Excel file options discard some of the data I want to keep. The best one is a Garmin .cvs file format.

I search POI Factory regarding this issue and could not locate any relevant posts.

I maintain a POI file using several address geocoders. I recently noticed that my Garmin would occasionally lead me to a location across the street from the actual address desired. I was very surprised!

Hi. I have a minor problem, i have download sox.exe succesfully but for some reason my computor does not allow me to save it in the folder where PoiLoader is placed. (program86)

I am the adminstrator of my computer but that does not seem to help, i realize this is not much information about my problem but if anyone think this sounds familiar please don´t hesitate to answer.

Is there a way to convert a Garmin .gpi file back to a format that I can compare the data it contains to data from another source? I am thinking a csv file is something I can work with.

I haven not been able to find any POI files that mention crossovers on divided highways. I'm wondering how hard it would be to make one myself.

I have a list of all of the ones I am interested in, and I presume that the DOT keeps some sort of list as well. I presume that I would do something like:

1) Find GPS coordinates for all of the ones I am interested in

I'm the creator and maintainer of the Gander Mtn. POI file. I just updated this POI today, but then noticed this comment that I hadn't seen before. It's in the "Change History" section:

What the heck is that? I thought that I was the only one with the authority to update my POI files or add sound files to it (well, except for maybe Jon or Globe Turtle).

I'm a little confused....
On my NUVI 750 and 850, am I not correct that you rename/delete the small POI file on the NUVI and replace it with the larger POI file (or use a micro SD card)?

I'm trying to make a POI file for the Sygic app (I'm using Android as a test bed). I use Sygic's RUPI Convertor from Sygic at http://www.sygic.com/en/poi and follow their instructions to the letter. I've seen the instructions you have on this site about Sygic/McGuider POIs and I comply with those also.

Just found this site while searching for an answer.

How does one add a custom icon to be used for a Favorite in a Garmin nüvi255W without having to resort to messing with the firmware? That process is more complicated that it's worth, requiring three or four different pieces of software.

I have just downloaded Copilot android with Africa maps.

Is there a way of creating and importing a POI file (In whatever format) that displays not only the name, coordinates and telephone details of the POI but ALSO a web address and notes.

The last 2 are the important POI categories.

Can CSV and GPX files be on the same GPS or do they have to be converted into one extension?

Is EPE 5.91 still working for you? On my computer EPE does not pop up into a window. It just goes into the tray at the bottom of the screen. If I maximize it it comes up in a full screen. If I try to tile it from there it goes back into the tray. Is it just me or has something changed recently in windows?

I have an icon associated with a submitted POI file and I am wondering how I would submit this icon to POI factory to be included with my created POI file

Also what color combination in Windows Paint would cause the icon to be transparent on the GPS Device

I just purchased a Nuvi 2557LMT.
I am trying to add Poi's to it but when I uploaded from POI
factory they are coming in as Excell files..problem is,I do not have excell on my computer. So my questions is, is there a way around this or do I need to purchase excell?

I need to create a POI file with sites of a particular company in the United States by doing a search on the internet and somehow use a tool to save or convert the search results onto a POI file. Is this possible? Thank you,

Ohio_Vineyards-Wineries have been updated. There are now 164 wineries in the POI file. These are taken from A2 permits in Ohio; A2 permits allow the holder to make and sell wine. There may be a few listed that are not making their wine but buying the wine and putting their labels on the bottle, I try to weed them out.

Where to put the pushpin to indicate the location or address of the establishment has been a problem for me at times. I used to just geocode the addresses using whatever comes in handy like Google Maps, Bing, GPS Visualizer, iTouchMap, and lately just EPE and use the resulting coordinates.
