The Garmin web site advised they are going to release a 2009 map update. Has anyone heard anything about it? Will the old c330 be able to use it?

The 2009 map update for City Navigator North America NT is available now from several sources including Amazon, GPSCity, TVNAV and others. I updated my nuvi this week. The update states that it is compatible with the StreetPilot C330. Note that the update is a DVD so your computer will need a DVD drive--a CD drive isn't sufficient. Garmin is not selling the update yet but there's no need to wait as Garmin will almost certainly sell the DVD for list price while others offer it now at a discount. The update includes the USA, Canada and Puerto Rico but does not include Mexico.
I would expect
I would expect that you will be able to load the 2009 maps etc on the C330 similar to how you had to load the 2008 maps etc.
Split the files and put the lower 48 state maps etc on the GPSr and Alaska & Canada on an inserted SD Memory card.
That's how I had to do the V2008NT update.

I just got off the phone
I just got off the phone with Garmin customer service and was told they would not have it available for sale for another 2 - 3 weeks.
I was also told that if you purchased a new Garmin after March 1st you would be eligable for a "one time" free upgrade.

Map Updates
I'm a bit confused. Why are third party vendors selling the product but Garmin doesn't have it available?

But mine is due to be delivered today. I ordered it Monday from Amazon.

Garmin told me that the 2009
Garmin told me that the 2009 maps were sent to the retail chain before they offered them to their users for update. They weren't happy with it, but that's what happened. It will be ready for us around 5/1 or earlier.
I asked TVNAV about that...
I asked TVNAV about that... the response I got back via email was it goes to the dealers first... which is an old Microsoft ploy... not sure why they do that. Maybe to offset the intital demand when they release it.
Even though I qualify for a free update... I sure have been tempted to order it.

2009 Update
Ordered mine from Gpscity.ca around 4:00 PM on Wednesday (23 April). It came this morning at 10:30 AM! I purchased my Nuvi 750 in early January so I figured I wouldn't qualify for a free update. Now to install.
