nuvi 660 (notify in some areas but not others)

Are the cameras where you say that you aren't getting notified in the database? (You can open the file as see what locations are in the file or you can search on the map.)

If you find locations that have redlight cameras that aren't in the file, you can report these to Miss POI using the link on the right side of the page.

This user must have a copy of some other sites file, he is not an active member or a paid subscriber.

Or he could be mis-identifying a traffic camera as a red light camera and thinks he should be getting an alert.

Double-check your "red light notification" emails for the next few days.

I travel throughout the USA this week was in the Califonia Bay Area and impressed the folks in my rental car with the red light warnings. This has always worked great on my 660 from east coast to west coast.

Last year the town where I live replaced a ton of pressure plates with traffic cameras. It seems that about a zillion people think they're red light cameras despite articles in the newspaper detailing what they are used for. People don't listen or pay attention. They'd rather freak out that "the man" is out to get them. (Not that they are always wrong..... )

I believe that was the problem here for a while. People were reporting traffic monitoring cameras as red light cameras and the alerts were going off where they shouldn't have been. Seems alot better now that everyone here knows what they are looking at.

i was wondering if theres a way to put a custom poi file for the weather info on the garmin nuvi 660?

Simple answer is no.

First of all, there's no custom poi file for weather info. How would it get the data?

Second, the 680 gets the weather info from the MSN receiver. The 660 isn't compatible with the MSN receiver only the FM traffic receiver which doesn't have weather.

I did get my red light camera POI from another site .There is a red light camera one mile from my house
that I never get a notification when I approach.It`s been there for almost a year and I have seen it flash at night when cars run the light.
When I`m in Bakersfield I get a warning at every red light camera.

Your equipment is working and the file that you got from another site doesn't have the redlight near your house.

So what do you want from this site?

Why don't you add that redlight to your file?

That`s an unusual statement,I want the same thing that you want from this site.
Anyway I connected my Nuvi to my pc and looked at all of the files and compared them to the ones that do respond to the ones that don`t . and the files look ok.
The ones near my house are listed.

Let me see if I have this correct. You got a redlight file from another site that doesn't work. This site has a file that does work, but you want help from this site to make the bad file into a good file. Does that about cover it?

Download the file from this site.
Does the camera exist on the GPS? If not report it to this site and add it to your file.
Now that it exists does it work? If not add your home to the file which will make for easier debugging.
Does your home work?

FYI Alerts on my nuvi 750 are sometimes inconsistent (as in text and audible alerts) and the distances can vary considerably. This appears to be a result of lower priority for alerts in the unit and is most prevalent when there is more routing activity.
