Garmin talk

Can someone give me an idea on which Garmin unit to buy. We are taking a trip in about a month and I would like to get another Garmin (or other) but there are so many out there, what do you all reccommend????

So I got yet another Garmin. A nüvi® 1350LMT with lifetime map and traffic. Anything out of the ordinary about this unit that I should know. I have set it up on an RV so it will be interesting to see if I can get the leaf to go green! I miss the voice with the British accent. It was more pleasing than the US voice and now they don't offer that version!

In November 2010 I downloaded several csv files from POI Factory to my computer, then to my Garmin nuvi 255W. For example:
McDonalds_USA.csv
Starbucks_NA_Nov.csv
WiFi.csv

Now, over 7 months later, I am sure that there are new stores added to these companies and closed stores removed. So how do I update my csv files?

I know this might almost sound sacrilegious to ask this, but here goes anyway. Could a GPS company, maybe NOT Garmin since they are essentially a direct competitor, but for the sake of argument, say a Garmin Nuvi 1690 or 1695, that has cellular connectivity built in anyway, use that to have BOTH navigation via its regular maps AND Google Maps Navigation?

I realize everyone contributes to the various POI files on POI Factory ... but somehow, one poi file maintainer seems to be responsible for 75 percent of the files I follow here.

I am endlessly amazed ... and excited ... when I see that Mahoney has posted an update to any one of the POI files he maintains.

Can anyone in this forum tell me which Garmin Nuvi is bluetooth compatible with my Sanyo Pro-700 please.I thank-you in advance.

I had a bad experience last trip to New England. Even though I had selected "Avoid Toll Roads" on my old StreetPilot 2620, it kept leading us through toll booths, to the point we were about to go broke.

Then we somehow wound up going through the Bronx, during rush hour, pulling a car behind the motor home.

So, I finally found Mapsource.

c330 SD card no longer recognized after mapsource update.
Well looks like i'm boned here.... My C330 no longer reads the sd card... no way no how... after updating maps via mapsource... Any ideas folks?

Oh and one more thing, it didn't successfully update.. just reverts to v8 north america and i have 2011 that used to work on my sd card...

I have a C320 that keeps locking up. The only way of restarting is to remove the frame and press the reset button. I was getting ready to check for updates online, when it said "Please insert the SD memory card". My memory card is a 2gb mini sd that sides into the SD adapter. It slides in pretty easily and I'm wondering if that could be my problem.

I am not a computer whiz, and this is my first GPS. I took my first trip and I have downloaded a few (quite a few) custom POI's in my nuvi 1450LMT. As I tooled down the road I saw signs that told me of spots that I feel the GPS should have let me know. The only one it did was Rest areas, and I-5 has a lot of signs for these also.

I have recently aquired a Garmin Nuvi 265W.
As the internal memory is not sufficient, I have also bought an sdhc card (8GB).

I have now uploaded the desired maps (approx 1.6GB) from Mapsource (installed on my laptop) and want to use the maps on my Garmin device.

When I insert the sdhc card into the device and turn it on, the device starts to load the maps, but then freezes...

I'm lookin' for a Nuvi to replace the 750.

I want a 5" screen and lifetime maps.

I was looking at the 2450 LM, but I'm concerned about reviews saying the processor is slow and screen refresh is slow.

What say you? What is your experience?

I'm looking at a Nuvi 1450LMT, and I understand that the free traffic has pop up ads. If I were to but a 1450 or 1450 LM and then add a paid traffic subscription later, will I still get the ads?

Has anyone used one of the USB adapters that plugs into the cigarette adapter to power a GPS? The one I have tried the GPS thinks it is plugged into a computer and won't show the maps.
Any help would be very appreciated. Want to shorten the cord up and get rid of the bulky charger when I have it mounted on a motorcycle.

Discovered this on another forum, and verified by running Webupdater with my 1490. It was reported that the problem with favorite icons displaying incorrectly as black dots (introduced with V5.10) is NOT fixed.

I have recently upgraded from a Garmin 1350LMT to a 2350LMT, the 1350LMT was sun light readable, but the 2350LMT has poor screen display in direct sunlight and the LCD brightness is at 100%.I came across the Anti-Glare Sun Shade Clip-on Glare Shield, do these really work? The GPS is mounted on the windshield.

When I download from Mapsource I find that all my POI pictures have been detached. Is there anyway to keep them attached after downloading.

Anyway, I'm sure this has been discussed to death and back, but man, do I love the NEAR function of my GPS. It is such a wonderful tool, I wonder why it wasn't included on the DEZL.
