Garmin talk

So I have spent my day off trying to get poi on my nuvi 3790. I am going on a motorcycle trip and fuel is a problem. I need to have all fuel stations to be displayed on the gps so I can see what is comin up. I cannot figure this one out. Maybe someone in the community has some input or advice on what i am missing. Thanks.

I just bought a Garmin refurbished 765T, when I was looking thru the folders, in the Garmin>Text folder, the only English English files were:

British_English.gtt
British_English_Prx.gtt
British_English_Trf.gtt

Nowhere were there any American English files. Is this right? would other Nuvi 765T owners please comment.

I've got a couple of lower end Garmins that I've had for several years now. I would like to upgrade to the high end unit. If you were to buy a new unit, which would you buy and why? Also, I got the Garmin email too. I will definitely wait until the 24th to see if there is some new product announcement. In lieu of a new device being announced, what would you get?

Can anyone give me a hand with this please? I have the Garmin Nuvi 255W. I am going on a 9 day road trip across country so I kind of need to make sure I do this right! I have Microsoft Streets & Trips 2011, MapPoint 2011 as well as Microsoft AutoRoute 2011 installed on my computer.

Just wanted to share with everyone what I think is a pretty good deal... I found a website selling the free lifetime map updates for Garmin for $79.99 (as opposed to Garmin's website price of $89.99)I then used a coupon code (code is: IS10OFF50) which brought the price down to $69.99 (so $20 less than Garmins price).

I have been working on a new Beginners Exercise. I put my 765T into simulation mode and then let the Nuvi navigate to an intersection 1.5 miles from my house.

I just test drove a new Chrysler 300 with a beautiful in dash GPS.
Must have been at least an 8 incher. It had a display that looks like my 3790T unit.

Went to do a map update and states not enough room..I have over 600mgs free..whats up with that..how big is a map update only wanted the east coast. If I put a sd card in will it recongize that?

I have a new 2450LM and am a little nervous about updating to the new 2012.20 map. Reading so many posts here of people losing Junction View files from previous map, I am reluctant to update.

Does anyone know how to get the older version back if I am not statsified with the newer version? I would appreciate any help before I update. Thanks.

I saw a web site promoting Free Driving Directions & Maps with updates. What's the catch? I never saw anybody giving these away for free.

My nuvi 855 has had some issues from its first use. Some 855 owners have had similar issues while others found the model to be very well behaved, at least after the last firmware update.

When I start the mapupdater program to install the new map, it states that my computer does not have enough space for update and it requires 5 GB.

This has never happened before. Can anyone help.

I just tried to use the Web updater program. I have my 3790T plugged in to the usb port and opened the program and it said it is checking for any newer Web Update version and it stalls there . Nothing happens. So I press cancel and the program closes. Any suggestions?

Don't know if this will be of interest but I recently purchased and started using the FM extension that plugs into the 1490's receiver since I ran most my wiring (except for the receiver) under the dash. The traffic signal/icon was intermittant at best so I decided to purchase the extension. What a difference!

I use my Nuvi 855, turn it off, and a day or two later switch it on. It states "Can't Unlock Maps" and "Maps Not Routable" or similar. Sure enough in Settings-->Map-->Map Info my North America Map, the same one I downloaded on the device from Garmin using my lifetime map subscription is not listed.

I switch the unit off and on a few times, same result.

I just loaded a bunch of custom POI files onto my micro SD card in the Nuvi 855, but want some very basic help on how to use them. For instance, with the file for Yellowstone Nat. Park, how would I use its many specific points versus what is built-in by Garmin? Can I somehow display all those custom points on the screen while travelling inside the Park?
