I had an interesting incident when updating one of my GPSr's via WiFi recently. It's not a common occurrence and is mostly my fault but I thought others should be aware of the potential problem.

I have a Drivesmart 65 and normally do map updates via WiFi. I leave the GPS in it's mount and do it with the vehicle in the driveway where it is in range of my home router.

I had someone break into my Tahoe and steal my sdcard but not the actual unit. I was puzzled because the base is hard mounted but you can pull the face off, unplug and it's yours less the wire and mount. I'm still scratching my head about it.

Recently, I have noticed a change the behavior of my old trusted 3597. I have been leaving it on my car and always with it plugged to the cigarette lighter through the Gramin HD traffic receiver power cable that came with the 3597.

The 3597 used to power up as follows when I start the car:

I have 2 Lifetime Updates free for my 2 GPS..Can just update 1 and somehow transfer the map to my other device since both are free lifetime updates. My data is pretty crappy out in the country side and I have to go to big city to update..

I ran into an error and couldn't find anything in the topics that matched my issue. Sorry for the long post...

I currently use two RV890's and I normally back one up when I add favorites and then transfer the favorites to the other 890.

When I attempted to backup today, it starts the backup and then fails after about 25% and says "there was an error backing up your favorites."

I have the Drivesmart 55. I was in Best Buy the other day and was playing around with the Drivesmart 86. It seems (besides the main Where To & Map screen that changed graphics) that the voice command (OK Garmin) no longer has a LIST of commands from the x5 > x6 series.

Hi All.

My wife uses a Nuvi 3590LMT for travel.

I have noticed that the screen appears to be going bad.... sort of delaminating or something. I am sure it won't be cheap to repair it, so am looking for a used one, or a newer model thag is comparable to the 3590.

Any suggestions on what to replace it with?

GE v7.15.2 for Windows was sometime yesterday after thread started. Mac v7.15.0 was also released 6 days ago as well.

I would like to alert the members that there is a new release for those that have Navigation in their Hondas. Map 2023 just released 2 days ago. I installed it in my 2018 Honda CR-V Touring this morning. 15 minutes to D/L to computer and 16 minutes to D/L to car. Probably won't be driving it for a few days, so will be commenting then.

Is anyone else seeing the Garmin Drive app draining their smartphone battery? Yesterday my phone said the app used 25% of my battery while being active less than 2 minutes total. I have tried but cannot "Force Stop" the app, only way to stop it is to uninstall it.

I got myself a Honda CR-V Hybrid 2022 car. It came with a Garmin navigator. I installed the speed cameras on it by editing and copying the GDI section of the GarminDevice.xml installation file. My POIs were installed well on the device, and they showed up well on the map.
But I didn't manage to hear the warning sound.
The audio file is PCM wav at 44,100 Khz and mono.

I just installed a new battery for my 255W. This time around, the two screws in the bottom were stuck and I stripped them out while trying to remove them. I had to force the case open, breaking the two posts in the bottom. The case still snaps back together solid though, so it's not such a big deal.

Since upgrading my iphone to iOS 16.xx I was pleasantly surprised to find a full featured map available on my 2022 Palisade.

The last file that was available was D3060380A does anyone know if this has been updated? I use this file in my 765T.

My 2689 crapped out in early January of this year. It was having troubles booting and eventually went into the constant reboot mode. This strongly suggests that the operating software has been corrupted.

I have an old Garmin nuvi 265w. It has its original lifetime map but it is 2010th year. Can somebody help or tell me where to download NA maps. I`ve update software version to the latest 7.8 through Garmin Express. It also shows me map update available but it costs about $95 and it doesnt show what version/year it is?
Any response many appreciated.

I powered up one of my Garmin GPS navigators recently to get the time to set an atomic wristwatch that was no longer getting signal from WWVB. When the Garmin was on, but before it received a GPS signal, I noticed the clock was off by a couple of minutes. That made be wonder how accurate Garmin navigators are at keeping time without a GPS signal.
