Indiana rest areas are being torn down and replaced.
Because of this we changed to using love’s Truck Stops as rest areas until the rebuilding is completed.
Have yet to look. If there is a Loves POI, and if so what is your suggestions? Anything better?
Love's Truck Stops
Jan,
I did separate truck stop pois several years ago, but one member combined them all into a single file. I don't know if the combined file is currently maintained or not. The truck stops seemed to have stopped listing all their locations in a CSV file but may still do. You have to look on each site to see what is there.

Note the first link takes you to a thread that discusses an old but available file that may have had latitude and longitude reversed. I can't find any such POI file from the Love's website however.
The 2nd link takes you to a site where you can supposedly download a file. Having said that, I'm not familiar with its content.

why
Are they being torn down? (I have some ideas)
In my college years I slept in rest areas all alone. No worries.
One time, somewhere near Brattleboro, VT, I woke up, and a VT State Trooper car was parked right next to me, on the pass side. There was nobody at the rest area at all. No trooper to be found.
To this day, I wonder, was that parking intended to provide me with safety?
More
JanJ more,
The site https://www.allstays.com/c/loves-indiana-locations.htm lists all the Love's addresses in Indiana should you want to take on compiling a POI for your use. Note that when you go to any particular address, click on "More" to expand the info, you will see "View Map." From there use the tools within Google Maps to get the latitude and longitude. See https://support.garmin.com/en-US/?faq=h4ApFGrJkU9Tan3TPt5hR7 for some help on setting up a POI file in Excel.

Indiana Rest Areas
Jan
Where did you get the info regarding these rest areas? I still show these as open in the Rest Area file.
Indiana had some older rest areas on I-74 between…
…Cincinnati and Indianapolis. They were smaller and outdated. All of those have been torn down and rebuilt, I believe. There may be one that is still in the construction process. I can’t remember since it has been a while since I drove that way. But the new rest areas are nice. I will use Love’s, Pilot/1-9, and Mickey D’s. They all have nice restrooms and they are readily available. However, if you can find one, the nicest restrooms available are at Buc-ee’s. Nicest restrooms anywhere!

Once upon a time, long, long ago, (1963) when I was a sailor stationed in Jacksonville, Florida, I decided that it was a good idea to hitchhike home from Jax to the Cleveland, Ohio, area. Two experiences stick in my mind. First of all, I was in uniform thinking (rightfully) that men in uniform might have an easier time getting rides.
Experience 1 was getting a ride in the middle of the night from a couple in a pickup truck, sitting between them while they passed a bottle of booze back and forth. That was a little hairy.
Experience 2 was still in the middle of the night in Virginia when a state trooper picked me up and took me as far as he was going. He explained that when he was in the service a state trooper picked him up and took him wherever and he never forgot that kindness and so he picks up servicemen as he did me. Gotta tell ya the truth, given this era's behavior no way would I ever consider hitchhiking anywhere. Too dangerous.

Love's TS
Just uploaded the latest Love's file. Also uploaded the latest Truck/RV file.
All the rest areas from
All the rest areas from Chicago to Indianapolis on I65 have been bulldozed. One was being closed an hour after we used it. In early May. They were literally blocking the entrance as we left!
They were quite old. They seem to be being completely rebuilt. As seen on our return trip in early June.
Don’t have I65 info south of Indy, as we took I74 east and I’m not certain if they were affected there.
Thanks on Love’s info. Gonna start using it!
OOPS! Found the csv file, where are logo and audio files for Love's?
!
OH! I see! They've been broken away from how the were before... (Long time since I downloaded a new POI)

I-65 Indiana Rest Areas
As a result of the above input, I will add (Closed no ETO) on each of the rest areas on I-65. If anyone sees a change or correction in any of these Rest Areas, please let me know.
Thanks,

Daughter is camping her way
Daughter is camping her way across country W-E to visit with her dogs...
We were talking about rest areas, and we discussed the old one's being torn down in Indiana... "about time" was her comment.... Then informed me that all Loves that she's visited has a dog run area...
I am not a dog person, but she asked I post this for others... done!

Love's TC Dog Park
At this time there are 371 Love's that have a Dog Park. If there is enough interest in these, I can add the words Dog Park in column D.
Sounds
Like a good thing to do or you could just as easily create a "Loves DR" group..
Never argue with a pig. It makes you look foolish and it anoys the hell out of the pig!
I can see Love’s having dog runs

A lot of truck drivers travel with their dogs. I have seen everything from Dobermans to Chihuahuas. I even saw a woman truck driver one time that had a boa constrictor lying on the dashboard of the truck that she was driving. Go figure!

Are you saying that they are all being torn down at once?
Likewise, is this a remodel or a full destruction and rebuild.
Indiana DOES always have road money and pretty much spend it as intended.
All I can report is from
All I can report is from Gary, Indiana to Indianapolis 465 East.
They were all either closed or about to be closed in mid May and mid June when we came back.
They had signs saying impending closing if open, and others already closed.
I would think that someone else might have more recent info.

Rest Areas in Indiana
I suggest that you download the Love's Travel Stops and Country Stores file from poi factory. Loves has 22 Travel Stops in Indiana. These should be available for use.
