Garmin TopoActive Maps on the Zūmo XT GPS Navigator Vs. Garmin TOPO U.S. 24K North Central

I'm not familiar with the Zumo TopoActive PS map but with the Garmin topo maps on my Oregon & Montana GPSr's, The TOPO U.S. 24K map has far more detail. They are nearly identical to the 24K grid maps published by the USCGS and include things like benchmarks, towers and other distinguishable structures.

I haven't checked recently but when I bought the TOPO 24K maps a few years ago, they were only available on micro SD cards. They need to be inserted in the chip slot of the GPS which means you can't use the slot for external memory. This is a non starter for me since I need that extra memory. I mainly use the 24K maps with Basecamp for reference and transfer any useful information to the files I create.

The TOPO 24K maps are not updated as frequently as other Garmin maps. I find streets and developments missing that have been in place for many years. There are also no free updates and a new SD card needs to be purchased to get newer versions.

I am tempted to buy the Garmin Topo U.S. 24K North Central microSD Card. If it shows ATV trails and bike trails, this might be a good choice for me.

I also see that Garmin HuntView Plus mentions some of the same features as Garmin TOPO U.S. 24K. It doesn't look like it is compatible with the Garmin Zumo XT, however.

I emailed Garmin Product Support asking the differences. They pointed me to the URL Below and highlighted this:
