Exactly, NEVER click a link in an email, always go directly to the website in your normal manner and log in that way.

But follow the above advice on logging in.
"If there is no activity on your Garmin account across all our sites and services over a long period of time, your account will be deleted per our privacy policies. Multiple notifications are sent to the email address on the profile prior to deleting the account"

There is at least one past discussion on this going back to 2021.

I got several of the emails last year.
What ever you do, DO NOT click on the links in the email or reply to the email just in case it really is a phishing or scam attempt. Instead go direct to the Garmin website and log into your account. If concerned, change or reset your password on the Garmin website.

email
Sounds like a scam. I always delete any email when there is a threat to clsoe my account. Most companies do not send such threats.

Accounts do not really expire.
Garmin told me that accounts do expire, but it is not enforced. I agree. It is probably spam email. Delete it.
I called up the Garmin
I called up the Garmin website and logged in that way just to be sure.
I had already deleted the email before posting but was wondering if this was normal for Garmin.
I hadn't logged in for ever so didn't know what their policy was. I do seem to get an enormous amount of the scam texts and emails.
If I suspect a fraudulent email...
I always click on sender to get actual email the email came from. Many times it will say Garmin, Garmin.com or any other company. Click on sender and it shows it's from a Gmail account. You can also click reply and it should show you who sent the email. Like Caller ID phone numbers anymore. Many are spoofed and not the real number. Don't recognize the number and I always let it goes to voice mail.
How to check your Garmin account
Found this on another thread, from John in PA:
+++++++++++++++++++
Checking your Garmin account can kill two birds with one stone; one it logs some activity and two it can verify if Garmin sent you the email.
Simply go to Garmin and log into your account.
Go to Account Details.
Down near the bottom, in the DATA MANAGEMENT area click on "Manage your data".
Select "View Your Data"
Go to Email History and select "View Email History". You can then see a list of email messages Garmin has sent to you.
++++++++++++++++++
If the email was legit, you will see it under View Email History.
Good luck!

scam
that is probably a scam. I have been receiving such notices from IRS, PayPal, and Amazon recently. I don't even have a PayPal account. Don't open and just delete.
Account login
I haven't logged into my Garmin account for around 5 years. Never received any letter.
And...

I suspect your Garmin account is still active and has not been closed. But ... how will you know for sure unless you log in and break the 5-year drought?

When I saw one of these
When I saw one of these emails I ignored the email link, went directly to Garmin, and turned on 2FA for the Garmin account.
