custom shortcut for poi in Where To page

Years ago I made a Harley Davidson short cut in the main menu (where to) of my Zumo 660 to access the harley poi. I have a new Garmin and for the life of me I can't remember how to do it, I've tried everything I can think of. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
John

Model?

Which GPS model are you trying to customize now?

Montana 700i, and another

Hmm, a quick review of the manuals for each didn't give me an answer.

On many Garmin devices, it's as simple as tapping Where To, then tapping Add shortcut. It many be necessary to scroll down after the Where To since Add Shortcut is likely at the bottom of the Where To page. Also, when adding a new shortcut, you can move its position on the Where To page to avoid the need for scrolling.

Does an Add Shortcut appear on either of your two devices? If not, the device may not offer the option.

On the other hand, maybe a Zum 660 or Montana 700i user may have an answer for you.

Here's a discussion you may enjoy rolleyes :

If you find that either of your devices can add shortcuts, but can't add a custom POI location as a shortcut, you could try saving the Harley site as a Favorite or Saved place, then add it as a shortcut.

Believe it not, but the Garmin Manual is incorrect. LOL

The manual for my DriveSmart 65, said to do exactly what you've indicate above. The closest thing I could find to "Add Shortcut", is Personalise. The best, that I managed to do was to hold my finger on "Custom POIs" for about 3 seconds or so and that allowed me to move it to the main "Where To" screen. At least now, I don't have to go to Categories and scroll all the way to the bottom to find Custom POIs.

The video probably describes an older DriveSmart and mine has absolutely no Green + sign. I vaguely recalled that at least one of my ancient Garmins had such a feature.

Amazingly, there is a "Delete Shortcut" function, that is greyed out, because I can't Add Shortcuts. How do you delete a non existent shortcut. LOL

I've had a Garmin of some type for about 20 years or so, so, i'm simply amused as opposed to calling them and complaining.

The same goes for Voice Commands. I found that they were basically useless for anything complex. As a result I have installed a new voice command feature, but unfortunately, it must be physically installed in the car, anytime I want to use it.

It's called the "Wife Voice Command System", which has been renamed the "Wife Voice Request System", to maintain marital harmony.

It works by requesting step by step key strokes from my wife and does require a fair amount of patience at times, but it does usually work without me making a manual override, by pulling to the side of the road. (Fear Not. Manual Override does not mean pulling to the side of the road, opening her door and asking her to get out.)

Thanks for the help, but on

Thanks for the help, but on the Zumo 660 you have to load a .bmp file into one of the folders on the garmin unit. you can add a .bmp file to sub-folder of your custom poi's and it will display on the map. The one's you can add on the unit are generic, I want add a Harley-Davidson symbol and go specifically to that poi
