Garmin talk

4 map updates, and the same address that was wrong is still wrong. I told them about it, and they said they would fix it. Right.... Outdated cell phone maps have the address, but Garmin can't figure it out. better start getting their information from different vendors, because this isn't cutting it.

Anyone using and ECO-Route on a newer vehicle with Auto STOP/START?
It sees the engine shut off and wants to turn off the Garmin. Any way to turn off this function in the Garmin?

As I type this, my family and I are on E/B I-94 en route to Milwaukee. As planned, My wife is driving and I am navigating. I am using both the Garmin DriveLuxe 51 and a Sonim XP8 with Google Maps. Google Maps alerts us the slow downs, crashes and speed traps. Garmin is lagging behind. Garmin really needs to start making better use of data available with live internet connectivity.

Unit is a Garmin Drivesmart 61.

I have installed the USA Route 66 POI file from the library.
In my Trip Planner simulation the POI's work OK as I arrive close to the POI position. I get the notification.
Does anyone here know why a couple of POI's per State don't "reiease" even after 254 miles past the POI location.

Had a conversation about Garmin maps with someone last night
And I found myself having to explain the ‘out of sync with rest of world’ map version naming system.
Other than sayin “That’s the way they do it......”

Is there a reason we are in 2019 and Garmin is in 2020?

Recently obtained a Garmin Nuvi 2598. Put POIs, including RLC, onto it.

RLCs show on map when doing route simulation, but not in "overhead" or "bird's eye view", even when zoomed in to 200 feet or closer.

Tried turning on/off map layer of "along the way". Other icons toggle on/off, such as businesses in my POIs, but not RLCs.

There was a thread here a month or two back which had a complaint that they could no longer mount the newer GPSes on their Macs and, thus, couldn't load POIs, etc.

Try using Android File Transfer for the Mac. It came right up and let me see the contents of my Garmin DriveSmart 55.

I have a Garmin DriveLuxe 51 LMT-S that randomly powers down. I assume I just need to ship it to the Mother Ship (Garmin Hospital) for repair. I have done a hard reset. Is there anything else I should try before shipping it back?

I've long ago given up on the 2797 to take the large JCV file.

The 855 does and I think the 3790 also, which right now is at my daughters.

So now my question is, can the DriveSmart 50 handle or take the large JCV file?

Map 2020.20 installed the 497,151kb file. If it can/does I don't really know how much of a difference the large file will make?

New GE version 6.16.0.0 just out.

BTW: This is I think the first time it actually recognizes my SD card installed in the 855.
Or maybe I just never noticed.

After today’s map update I’m down to 488MB free
On one 2689LMT, and 412MB on second one.
Way back when on my 660, I went through removing unneeded files and that allowed for a few more map updates before switching over to external memory card.
I see I’m about to need to do this again.
Anyone know what can and cannot be safely removed on a 2689LMT??

I haven't read any discussion in a long time about custom dashboards. Does anybody else here still use these? I did a master reset on my Garmin DriveLuxe 51 this afternoon. as I was configuring it, I realized that something was still missing, so I enabled Trip Data and have:

-Temperature

-Elevation

-Time (on the right side)

Hello im not rushing my time back-in Massachusetts but since im horrible with directions could you give me about a half way mark. I had wonderful suggestions and help setting up my Gps and gave me recommendations on were to stop for my first night coming back to Massachusetts.

Full Europe 2020.10 loads to Nuvi275T but will not load to computer. Tried on six different computes. NA 2020.10 loads fine. Loads to @ 12- 18 percent then errors off red banner There was an error loading the update. Tried in Safe mode Windows 10 V1903 same error. all virus software off.

In the 2019 Nav equipped Honda’s, the system gets its updates directly from Garmin, has the look and feel of the Nuvis and DriveSmart GPSs.

Has anyone had much luck on getting the wireless map updates to work? Mine just searches for forever, and once in a while, when it is able to find an update, I get an error message saying “An error occurred during the update. The device is retrying. Press cancel to exit and try again later or update using Garmin express.”
