Thanks mcginkleschmidt

Wow that was fast, thanks for uploading the large JCV. smile

The link

On my PC, the above link is wider than the message window and the final character ( the numeral 4) is missing. If you try to copy and paste the link and it fails, check to see that the link ends with BHLNx4.

Nada !!!!

OOOPs

You're a trooper Mcginkleschmidt

I can't believe I still have my Nuvi 885T and will use it on occasion versus my cell phone, but do appreciate keeping the maps up-to-date and having access to the large JCV file. Thanks to guys like yourself that give us the capability to download it.

Once again...

Thanks so much, Mcginkleschmidt!

With your speedy posting, I have already installed everything, backed it up, and tested the simulation for the junction views.

You make it a comparative pleasure.

The link works fine. Downloaded and installed the large JCV last night. Just click on Quote on his post, it’ll let you copy the entire link and paste it.

Thanks McG

Downloaded without any problems.

Thanks

My thanks as well!

Can someone post Checksum please.

Thank you mcginkleschmidt for posting the large JCV for Map Update 2020.20

Would someone who has successfully tested and used the large JCV file please post the SHA-1 or SHA-256 Checksums to validate the download was successful. It's going to be a few weeks before I can download the map itself and would like to ensure I have an uncorrupted download of D3060300A.JCV file.

Thanks!

thanks

for the download

File Works Fine

The large JCV file works fine on my 1390T with the new map. Don't have a clue on what the SHA checksums are. Sorry.

Seapup,

Thank you for posting the checksums. They helped validate my download was successful and complete. Hopefully I will be able to download the map update within the next week. Thanks again.

Juggernaut,

What's your point? Once someone posts their checksums from a working copy of the JCV then I can generate the checksums from mine and see if they match. Maybe you don't understand checksums?

Your post provides no additional value to my posted request and Seapup's helpful reply. So why post it? Seriously.

.

And, what if their checksums are wrong... lol

No prob. I don't validate checksums for Garmin downloads, but always manually validate when downloading firmware for expensive electronics. But most of the sites I download from post the checksum to help prevent bricking electronics with a bad download.

Welcome to The Factory.

To answer your question, you copy the downloaded large JCV file from your computer to your Garmin device, placing the file in the device's folder where the current jcv file is while also deleting or disabling (by renaming) the jcv file installed with the current map. Your question asked about the "jcv map." If your question is how do I update my Garmin devices' maps, then ignore this thread and install and use Garmin Express software. Please note that the file is only the large Junction View file intended to work with the current new version of Garmin's City Navigator North America map which you would have already installed with Garmin Express software.

To answer the question you haven't asked:

http://www.poi-factory.com/node/45292

I strongly recommend that you make a full backup copy of your Garmin Device before tinkering with its internal files. Caveat emptor!

Note that the FAQ suggests the large jcv file may not work on a nuvi 66LM and if you try to install it there anyway, please report back with your success or failure so I can update the FAQ.
